A Jurassic Overland Dream

My 6yr old is 100% the driving motivation behind this build. He's been beyond excited for it since the day I said we were doing it, and he helps me work on it literally every second he can haha If this was just some random idea I'd had on a whim there's no way I would've stuck it through this long lol
Goes to show you how some of the best ideas in life come from just a whim, or a feel.

Here's a more accurate picture of the paint color.

Side note. It''s fishing season now and it's extremely difficult deciding how to divide my time between fishing and working on the Jeep lol

Those wheels will look great powder coated red as well. Just saying

100%,.
I'm going with just paint and primer instead, there's no way I'm paying to have these rims powder coated just to spend the summer scratching or dinging them lol

i want to pick up a set of the canyon rims for it some time down the road, but I think I'll be pretty happy with how these turn out for now. I don't need to spend the $$ on another set of rims rn so I'm in no rush.

Cricut has been my saving grace with this, after being dicked around so much by every decal shop in town, this bad boy was made at home in 15 minutes. lol

Why is it that paint days seem to also be those days you discover problems.

Me not noticing this just speaks volumes about how oblivious I am lol

But despite that, I pushed forward lol

Getting the angles was really just eyeballing, all of the measurements available online are for a YJ so I had to adjust them and do my best to make it work for my body style.

Overall I'm extremely pleased with the look! It was my first time using stencils or really laying down any kind of stickers on a vehicle so I have a few touch up spots to do, mainly on the hood lettering.

nice work.....well worth the wait.😄(y)

Not a ray of sunshine to be found this week or the one coming up but I did manage to get enough of a dry spell to get the door decals put on.

These were made on a friends Cricut machine, and admittedly aren't 100% perfect, but I mean that's absolutely fantastic IMO for trying this for the first time, on a damn Cricut machine of all things lol I'm just going to touch up the blank spots by hand with a small modelling paint brush. That's about $23 worth of vinyl, and $8 worth of transfer paper.

It's one of those things, where I just cant stop looking out the window at it sitting in the driveway haha

And of course as these things go, I cant drive it 🙃🙃🙃

From what I can diagnose from reading on here, I've got the "angry sparrows" noise in my front end. A high pitched squeak/chirp that's only noticeable at low speeds, isn't effected by RPM or the brakes, seems to be with the rotation of the tires up to 30-40km/h then goes away or becomes silent, hard to tell with the wind noise at that speed. I haven't been able to confirm 100% that's what it is, but I haven't found much else that seems to match up with my symptoms and I really just don't want to take the risk of taking out my transfer case.

First thing I would try is spray some lithium lube up into the pivot ball just to see if the squeak goes away. If it does, you might just need to clean it up and make sure you get some grease into it. If it's a U-joint you could pull the shaft and drive around in 2 wheel until you get a chance to replace the joints.

I'll try the lube tomorrow, I'd be a happy camper if that helps haha
I was keeping the idea of dropping the drive shaft if I need to depending on how much of a hassle I'll have getting a ujoint tomorrow. We just went into another 2 week lockdown here so trying to get things done right now is chaos lol

No fun changes to the Jeep lately, just been driving it and enjoying it the last couple weeks.

I really only have 3 things on my priority list.

- I need a new back window for my soft top
- I need to attach the glass to the mirror on my passenger side
- and I need to get my fog lights wired in and the bulbs changed.

I'm window shopping for either a winch or maybe a small 1.5"- 2" lift.
My birthday is in July so I'm deciding what to treat myself with hahah

LOTS of driving getting done though. People definitely get a kick out of seeing the Jeep drive around town. I live in an area with a population of MAYBE 10,000 people at the most, so it sticks out driving down the road lol

I took the dog and did a little 2 day trip along the ocean and then looped in through the fire roads until we found a lake to do some camping at.

This spot here on the cliff I've taken pictures at before when I still had the green Jeep, I noticed some clear cutting going on down there now so I think it's days as a nice private spot are over lol

There's my bit of picture whoring for the day lol

So not much to be said about the Jeep itself, I got the u-joint fixed but I didn't feel like that really warranted an update on it's own hahah It's gonna be a great summer full of lots of trips!!

Killer Job!!
You gonna get a red "JEEP" overlay badge or leave it blank?
I'm semi-undecided at the moment, if I do they'll probably be gold like on the movie Jeep, or black, something to break up the color scheme a little bit.
I'm assuming you mean on the side by the front fender where JEEP is stamped in?

Saw the pics on FB, and the Jeep looks great man!!! Awesome job on it!

haha I was wondering after I posted if anyone from there was on here too. Thanks brother!

Yeah that's the spot. It'll look great whether you put anything there or leave it blank, I'm just being curious. Wonder if you could get a dino bone font or maybe the standard font, but fossil pattern? I'm just throwing out ideas now haha. Keep up the great work!

There's actually a guy who does the whole sticker kit and he offers it with a Dino type font haha I think it has T-Rex skulls instead of E's :ROFLMAO:

Edit: Yep lol

I haven't really done any work to the Jeep to warrant any real "updates" so to speak.

I'm running 2WD right now while I wait for a driveshaft replacement.

But it seems as good a time as any for a random pic dump because as we all know...This thread is worthless without pics lol

Nothing too special here just some shots from the last few weeks and the odd camping/hiking trip. 2WD has me keeping things fairly tame.

I do have a few small things in mind coming up, and I've been pricing out a lift to put in before the fall, I'd like to get myself a little bit more clearance before winter this year. Not that it was a big issue last year but hey, any excuse lol
