What did you do to your TJ today?

I'll be starting mine very soon. Looks like that latch mechanism comes out without too much trouble. Hope it turns out great!
Thanks, it wasn’t bad at all to my surprise. The one challenge I had was getting the screw off of the interior handle. It was stripped and a real pain!

You could eat off that!
I know! ‘Sick isn’t it?! And the engine is the same way! I even put 2 coats of ceramic wax on the underside of the hood.
I need help! 😆

One trip through some VA red clay mud would fix that for years to come. ;) I used to keep my Jeeps in perfect condition until I realized that I wasn't really enjoying them for what they are.

Installed my Trektop today.
This top came with the Jeep when I bought it so I expected to be missing some parts but it wasn't too bad.

It didn't come with the proper door surrounds, they work fine, they just don't have the section to clip in the center bar or the hinge function for the trektop. Definitely on the hunt for the proper surrounds now but these seem like they'll do for now.... Mostly because I'm definitely not taking everything back apart and putting the hard top back on lol

The only issue I encountered is here, there's a bit of a gap where the header sits, the pictures don't make it look too bad but it's probably close to a half inch gap all the way across. I'm guessing it's just the way the top is sitting without the center bar going across, and it will remedy itself once I get the bar installed, so hopefully someone here can confirm?

Somebody else here on the forum mentioned these speaker rings...

So I got a set, and put them on.

Closes the gap between the speaker and the dash grille. Now whether or not this actually accomplishes anything noticeable is a good question that I really don't have the answer to. The idea is to help funnel the speaker output through the grille opening instead of having much of it get lost under the dash as there's no "seal" between the dash speakers and their rather small grilles. OTOH, being as they're soft foam, the sound that hitherto went out under the dash may just be absorbed by the rings instead. But it seemed to be a good idea, was cheap, and only took about 5 minutes per side to install.

I ended up with four of them, only needed two, so the other pair is up for grabs cheep.

This really doesn’t seem like much, but I finally found & fixed a very annoying high pitched squeak in my dash. While driving, I could press down on the dash above the speedometer/tach & the squeak would stop as long as I held pressure on it. Finally, I found that if I moved my hand forward a bit, I could stick my fingertips into the gap where two plastic panels meet & the squeak would stop then as well. All I had to do was find some kind of shim to wedge into that gap that would apply enough pressure to the plastic dash panels to stop the squeak. I found a piece of clear tubing (3/8”, I think) & wedged it in place by hand. No tools required. It’s unbelievable how nice & quiet it is now without that irritating squeak.
The pics probably aren’t very good because it’s hard to get into position for a good pic that close to the windshield.
I hope this can help someone else.

did the squeak occur when driving over bumps?

Another little detail… Since selling the hard top, it bothered me that I still had the rear washer and wiper switches. Now they’re replaced with blanks. Thanks @williambmac ! I also modified and moved the OD OFF switch to the far right position where it felt the most natural.

Hold onto those switches, someone here may want them.

I may be interested in the switches, I assume you also have the wiring harness you no longer need?

Just installed some Bestop HighRock 03-06 style mirrors on my 99. They really give it a fresh look. Is there a way to adjust the view to where the arms are symmetrical on both sides or is that just how it is?

Did a lot of work over the winter, finally finished all the big projects and getting to try it out. Went out today to a local mud hole/ trail and proceeded to lose 4WD. I'm pretty sure it's just in the transfer case cable, will put it on the lift tomorrow and see what's up.

Also, thank goodness for winches and lockers! 🤞
