2004 Rubicon 42RLE stuck in second gear

what is oem ? and what if the pcm didnt fix this problem ?
OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer and is what Jeep installed. The odds of Wrangler Fix's replacement computer fixing the problem are excellent, they are very good at this. They found and fixed the original software bugs that cause these problems.

The codes that you listed are indicative of pcm failure.

0038 leads back to:

  • Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2
  • Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 fuse
  • Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 harness is open or shorted
  • Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 2 circuit poor electrical connection
  • Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
U0101 leads back to:

Faulty Transmission Control Module (TCM) Faulty Powertrain Control Module (PCM) TCM harness is open or shorted TCM circuit poor electrical connection

The 1604 code leads back to:

  • Powertrain Control Module (PCM) fused ignition switch circuit
  • Faulty PCM
  • PCM harness is open or shorted
  • PCM circuit poor electrical connection

  • In the event it doesn’t solve your problem I accept returns minus the shipping and programming

  • Attached are some common wiring issues with the 05-06’s that you should look carefully at.

Fixing any possible wiring problems will only fix problems associated with the wiring. No one can say if your issues are caused by wiring issues but I would not bet any د.إ they are.

I'd bet $ the problem is caused by the PCM.

I can use any shipping company you would like. In days gone by I have used them all. DHL and Fedex take your arm, clavicle and larynx with zero 💩’s given.

Private message me your address and I will check shipping prices for you. Also, please upload a photo of your software update number so the pcm will be properly programmed. I triple check international orders because of duties and shipping expenses.

There are never any guarantees something is a fix to a problem that can't be seen by the manufacturer of a fix, who knows what else could be wrong with your transmission that Wranglerfix cannot see with you being in Dubai. I'll say this one last time... your transmission's symptoms point to the typical problems that a 2005 and 2006 PCM have that Wranglerfix's replacement PCM takes care of.

@albshri The codes you have all come back to pcm failure.

Are you getting a hard shift from 1st to 2nd when cold?

High transmission temperatures?

Bad o2 sensor readings?

i'v seen videos about your pcm and i know how good it is and how everyone is talking about it and i'm welling to get one soon but the problem is if it didn't fix this issue what else can i do ?
Albshri, I just installed the new PCM from Mark at wranglerfix and the 2005 LJ is back on the road with all gears running smoothly and no more CELs.

I am grateful that others here found Mark and that I stopped trying to fix each error code. The replacement PCM is the only fix.

u had the same problem ?

Correct, I am aware of this happening, but my jeep is stuck in LIMP mode/ second gear.
The shifter in the cab will cycle through all the gears, but trans will not go into first.
I do currently have my locker pumps out while I clean them up and make provisions for a new location.
disconnect battery for 10 minutes or so and let your PCMTCM clear and see what happens

I had a similar issue, my 06 would go into limp mode if I spun the tires a bit pulling out of a gravel lot or off a gravel road, now I wasn't gassing it just normal loose dirt...I would go down the road, shift to neutral, shut the engine off while coasting and then restart shift back into drive and all would be good again....Now this happened randomly and not every time I spun the tires...It was annoying enough that I did contact Mark at Wranglerfix and installed one of their PCM's...Haven't had a problem with the transmission since...Also I hope you used only ATF+4 fluid...This 4RLE trans does not like ANY OTHER fluid and will act up, also check your fluid level, I would ensure it is just above recommended level....before the new PCM arrived I "topped" up my fluid and it seemed to help..

Looks like i will give the pcm a try... i mean its the only option i have rn, but i wanna know if it didn’t work what else can i do,
I changed the gear box like 2 month ago just to see if it will fix the problem but it didn’t

I also have a 2005 LJR in limp mode. It happened yesterday. It’s stuck in second gear. Reverse, neutral and park are fine. Here are my codes: P0891-TCM Power relay sense high circuit, P0700-transmission control circuit (MIL Request), P0700 3 times
I just disconnected the positive battery terminal. I’ll let you know what it does. Thank God this didn’t happen during my 1,000 mile trip from Montana to CA.
