Mashed the drivers side front lower control arm bracket beyond repair - might as wells replace both fronts. Sounds like Iron Rock are the go to with the RockJock mini-skids? What bolts do you use to attach the Control Arms?

One question - I notice they do not have the mounts for the cam bolts so no camber?? adjustment? Is that because they are for use with adjustable control arms, so not needed?

Any other brands to consider or any other advice on replacement?

Any help appreciated.

only toe is adjustable on our tjs. are you talking for the actual bracket on the frame where the control arm connects to, the control arm itself, or the bracket on the axle?

I am talking about the bracket on the axle - some have a normal bolt hole and some have an oval bolt hole like this picture:

Does it matter which one I use?

Maybe someone with more advanced knowledge will chime in on why a lot of aftermarket mounts are cut for cam bolts. It seems to me that most people looking to add stronger mounts would have adjustable arms. If your running Johhny Joints the round hole would be better at keeping the grease in the joint.

So if you use adjustable control arms you dont need the cam bolts - correct? Sorry if asking elementary questions but not familiar with the alignment set up.

Thanks for the help.

No feel bad to ask questions here, we like to help.

Answering your question, Correct.

Many of this aftermarket mounts are oriented to use with adjustable control arm that usually is one of the first mods done to the TJ/LJ’s
I oftenly use the Barnes ones because have the elongated hole and the Jeep owners feels comfortable w the fix.

When you use the Barnes brackets do you just not weld on the Cam Plate and use a standard Bolt/Washer? Or do you have to use the cam plate and a Cam Bolt setup?

Yes, I do weld the cam plate. If a stock TJ I do uses the cam bolt set up, the owner has no issue later down the road when bringing the TJ for alignment. If the TJ is furnished with adjustable CA use a regular bolt and washer.

Great thread, I have a couple questions too. I'm replacing my stock lower control arm mounts on my '04 TJ. I will be replacing my factory LCAs with Crown ones. I've saw somewhere on here that Artec's mounts are steeper and will affect ground clearance of the LCAs. Artec has two: TJ3012 and TJ3011. Do the Barnes and Iron Rock Offroad mounts have the same issue?

Also, I want to keep everything essentially stock and don't plan on lifting ever. Is the U shaped thing completely unnecessary if I don't use cam bolts? Should I get it anyway in case I do want to go with a cam bolt setup? I don't wheel hard, mostly forest roads.

you got this covered on the other post, yes?
