Its going to look great when you're finished!
When I installed my new fenders the hood was hitting/rubbing at either side. Turns out that the hood is supper easy to flex out of square due to being just stamped sheet metal. Its pretty easily to "tweet" it by pushing/pilling on opposite corners or sides to force it to line up more evenly....If that makes sense.
Thanks Don, I looked at some diagonal measurements and I believe that my frame is tweaked. From the carfax on my jeep, it was in a minor accident before I bought it...I may have shifted the frame ever so slightly off center in the front. I've been kicking around ideas on how to straighten it, but I'll probably just start looking for a good frame at a decent price and end up with a truly rust free jeep. Maybe I'll take a trip to gulf shores or something and try to bring two home, and sell one to cover the cost of the other!

Clean up continues from my last wheeling trip. Stupid tank traps on drummond island...

I noticed my Jeep has been running a bit warmer than normal, so I figured I had some mud in the radiator. I wanted to replace my fan clutch anyway, so I pulled the fan and shroud so I could really give the it a thorough rinse. Holy smokes, it was packed! Like water not spraying through to the condenser packed.

I had bought some foaming coil cleaner in preparation. Used the whole can to get the mud and stuff loosened up.

After that soaked for a few minutes, I used the garden hose to rinse everything, back to front. Got water flowing through the rad and condenser now. I also have a sandbar on my garage floor between the radiator and the floor drain!

So jelly of you guys out west that don't have to deal with mud too much.

Last night I installed my engine skid and found out I had not secured the transmission mount to the transmission skid...ooops number 1.

Then I started looking into the seat heaters, figuring it's an easy fix. It was. I forgot to hook up the ground. Oops

While I was digging around behind the glove box, I noticed the nuts that secure the dash to the tub and hold the airbag were never tightened. Oops number 3.

All items are now secured.

I think it's ready for a wheeling trip?
I know this feeling! o_O

Patience pays off, when your not in a hurry to get something you want. Been scanning the marketplace for at least a year, off and on for a used Currie HD steering setup. Finally found one, a couple hours away. Made arrangements and bought it home.

Not very much use on it either. TREs are still good, the steering damper clamp is brand new and the dude poked a hole in one of the boots, so he gave me a new one.

300 bucks. Pretty happy with that. I'll give it a quick shot of satin black and run it happily.

I have been working on getting 35s on this thing for a while. Tonight, I took a big step. I borrowed some from a buddy... They will probably be a permanent addition, since he's parting the Jeep they came from.

Interesting things to note...

4.10s aren't terrible as long as you don't use 5th gear. I need to install the 4.88s.

35" tires on 15" wheels with a C load range ride bouncier and squirmier than 33s on 17's with load range Ds. Not sure I like this aspect. I also am not a huge fan of the black wagon wheel look either. I gotta decide if I keep the pintlers, and pay an extra 100 bucks a tire to use 17s or take that extra 100 bucks and buy some pro-comp 69 polished wheels in 15 inch diameter. The answer there will depend on how my Jeep does with 4.88s and vibrations.

Finally, black magic brakes are the shit. I put a set of pads on before the 35s. You know, safety first. Anyway, they can lock up the 35s and provide very confident braking. If you haven't yet, go to black magic brakes for all your braking needs!

Pictures...(don't judge, she needs a bath)

I ran 35" tires on a 15" wheel for a short time and hated the ride. It was actually way worse than "E" rated tires on 17" wheels. I ultimately settled on a 17" wheel and "D" rated tire. That said, it's on my LJ.

This has been a long time coming!

Interesting remarks about 17" vs 15" wheel

Something else to consider... Talking with Mr Blaine about the ride difference, just changing tires, he mentioned the unsprung weight increase. I missed it last night, but of course he's right. The 35s are about 30 lbs heavier, per axle, than the 33s. Since every action has an equal but opposite reaction, the extra weight is going to affect the shock damping.

Good observation. Maybe 35's will help with the Fox 2.0 ride quality since mine are tested on 33's.

oooo I've never thought of that...
