Hi everyone,

I have an 06 65th anni. Tj with the 42rle. A few days ago I accidentally left the lights one and the battery drained to about 11.8 V. After that i connected to the battery charge for a few hours. The battery was connected to the vehicle, it charge for about 4 hours, 12.9 V. After that it started right up but with a CEL. I connected the obd2 tool and pulled p1604, p0700 and p0613. All of them are related to a TCM malfunction. This does not surprise since I been getting the hard shift from 1 to 2nd intermittently since I own the tj, (2016).

Before replacing the pcm I will be inspecting the wiring tomorrow for damage just to rule that out. If everythings good in the wiring ill just order another pcm which brings me to next issue.

The wrangler fix pcm can't be flashed or tune. I am planning to go for a supercharger in the near future, this would required a tune to run properly. What other option for pcm's are out there? Theres some on ebay advertising with lifetime warranty for around $500-600, not sure If anyone have tried them.

Appreciate any input.

@Jramos013 The oem part is not repairable and will eventually fail. There are companies in NY, NC, TX, FL and California all claiming to repair these Pcms and it isn’t true.

The 1600 codes are processor failure on the ecm side of the Pcm…When you try to fix problem A, you will get problems B and C that occur. I have sent these Pcms to some of then best repair facilities in the world looking for a solution to no avail.

The “known good” units aren’t worth the risk, money or the lead to shoot as they will fail.I have a few oem units that I have ran in my Jeep without issue so far but do not want my name on something that will eventually crap out.

Thanks,

Mark

Why cant your pcms be tuned? Is there a way around that? I would prefer to get a replacement from a trusted source like you, but then I would have to forfeit anything involving a tune.

You can adjust gears, tires and speedometer without issue. The turbo kits are looking for the oem part and that’s where the compatibility issue is. It is like trying to take a square peg and put it into a round hole.

That would be interesting lol

Is it possible for you to tune the pcm instead of getting a obd2 tuner if i go the supercharge route?

You’re welcome. Here are some common wiring gremlins to keep an eye out for.
