What wheels do I need to make my tires not stick outside fenders.

I just bought my first Jeep, and the tires stick out from the fender flares. The owner says that they do not have spacers on them, and the tires are only 30 inch with a 2.5 inch lift, so I am a little bit confused as to why the wheels stick out. It is an issue with the type of wheel itself? What kind of wheels/tires can I buy that will not stick otuside of my rubicon fender flares (I have a TJ but hopefully will get some 4.25 inch wide rubicon flares soon), but rather be flush with them. I attached a picture of what the wheel look like. Thank you!

Stock offset rims will pull them back in…

I like the offset you have now, but obviously your preference will prevail…

Yes I think it looks good too... but to answer your question it is primarily your wheel backspacing and secondarily tire width and wheel width. Check out this diagram:

A lot of OEM Jeep wheels have around 5-5.5" of backspacing (so similar to left picture above), and a lot of aftermarket wheels have around 3.75" of backspacing (similar to right picture above). Reason being is most setups with larger tires require that extra ~1.25" to avoid rubbing, which you can achieve either by adding wheel spacers to OEM rims or just buying aftermarket with the backspacing you want. I would assume your wheels have around 3.75" of backspacing.

Very informative picture, thank you! I'm running a 30 inch BFGoodrich K02 A/T with a 2.5 inch rough country lift. Would I be able to switch to a wheel that has about 4.5 inch of backspacing in order to get it flush? Or do you know the exact backspacing needed to get a flush look with rubicon flares?

Personal preference. I have always ran my TJs with tires popping out the sides a bit. A more aggressive stance in my opinion. Yours looks about perfect to my eyes…

The rubi flares are one inch wider than the standard TJ flares I believe. So measure how far your tires stick out passed the edge of the flares now, subtract 1” from that number and what you’re left with is a measurement that will be how much backspacing you’d need to add to your wheels (that number plus whatever backspacing the current wheels have). That’s how much backspacing new wheels would need to be flush…

Current backspacing + present stick-out measurement - 1” = new wheel backspacing needed…

Confusing enough? Lol…

You’re other questions have been answered adequately, but good luck finding Rubicon flares. They are really hard to find. I’ve been on here since 2017 and gave up trying to find a set, so bought a whole Rubi.

You dont need backspacing you can get 6" flares Plus Sahara's and 65ths had 4 1/4 flares so there should be plenty around given so many put those god awful but ugly aftermarket exposed bolt on things on :)

Thinking about it, a set of stock Moab rims would look great 16” is the only drawback since less tire selection. Your backspace would be where you want it. Check CL and FB marketplace.
