Hello, my names Connor, I’m new to this forum & was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on my newly purchased 2004 4.0 TJ Extreme Sport Edition with 35,000 miles & full service history (I had a 1998 4.0 Sport about 10 years ago & always regretted selling so now is the time for another).
I haven’t been able to find out much about this limited edition model though so does anyone on here know how many were produced for the UK or even the US??
I’m wanting to stick bigger tyres on the stock suspension for some light off-roading can I fit BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2 31x10.5 R15 on stock setup without a body or suspension lift??

There was never an "Extreme Sport" model offered in the U.S., just a "Sport" model. I believe this "Extreme Sport" is something that either a dealership did to sell them when they were brand new (dealers are known for doing things like this), or a previous owner did it.

You can fit 31x10.5" tires on stock Wrangler TJ without any issue.

Are you sure, I’ve seen a few for sale on EBay over here with the same spec as mine???

Well, often times dealerships will create their own packages, so one reason you may be seeing a few others, is that whatever dealership sold them to begin with, did the same thing for a number of them.

If this is an actual model from Jeep, I've never heard of it, I can't find any information on it, and it was certainly never produced anywhere in North America.

I do understand what you mean about dealerships doing there own unique versions of models using after market extras, vinyl decals & custom reupholstering to sell them on (I work in the motor trade), so you might be right!?

I suppose there is the possibility it's an official Jeep model just made for other countries (other than North America), but if it were, I'm pretty certain I would have heard about it by now. We've got several members on here from the UK including @Reign Mack, @Steve Wasteney, and once upon a time, @Kiwi TJ. Perhaps one of them can comment as to whether or not they've heard anything about this model before.

It's entirely possible that the Sport model we have here was simply called 'Extreme Sport' in the UK market. Sort of like how Canadian TJs are called TJs and not Wranglers. The most interesting thing about that TJ is the Rubicon badge on the hood.

OP, does it have the locking differentials, and Dana 44 axles?

Yea I noticed that. The Columbia edition seats also. It’s a mix of everything.

It's got rear drums, so probably not Rubicon Dana 44 axles. Also, that Rubicon font is incorrect (looks aftermarket). But then again, they do things different overseas.

These days there's so much aftermarket stuff done to these jeeps it's hard to tell what was an obscure package and what wasn't. Never seen anything like that in Canada ether though. Are those painted flairs? Also it looks like some kind of colour matched diamond plate below the doors but unlike the rubi it still has the little extension behind the fenders.

There must have been a time
when we could have said no.

That model is lost on me too sorry....Its not out here in NZ either...the attachments mentions the South Africa..so maybe the Extreme edtion started its roots there?

Ok mystery solved lol. Here in the states this type of jeep is referred to as the “Columbia edition” in Europe it’s the “extreme sport”

Notice the front bumpers are all the same. Whoever the OP bought it from stuck the rubi stickers on and they need to come off, because that’s just weird lol. But in all seriousness that’s what I came up with. Makes sense to me.

There was an "Extreme Sport" edition in the uk, cross between the sport and sahara, most of the differences are cosmetic, like silver coloured wheel arches, those grey rims, the upolstery, and a silver centre console, most of those chrome bits attached are after market, its NOT a rubicon but it does have Dana 44 rear axle (not locking), pretty much all of our TJ's came with rear Dana 44 in this country. 31's will fit without a lift but you may get some tire rub when turning to the extreme depending on the offset of those rims.

I know this is an old thread but I am looking to buy one here is Australia and it is an “extreme sport” too - did you find anything different to normal sports?

I've been looking at one of these in Australia too, found a bit of info here .
In February 2004, a limited-run Extreme Sport edition was released. Compared to the standard Sport edition, the Extreme Sport was differentiated by its 15-inch 'Ecco' alloy wheels, seven speaker sound system with CD player (including subwoofer), two-tone dark slate/khaki cloth seats and 'Extreme Sport' badges.

Excellent, thanks. The wife has the Extreme Sport and I wasn't sure what that included! (Although I'm pretty sure it doesn't have 7 speakers.... Just the 2 in the dash and the sub in the console).

Australian Extreme seems pretty mild. ;)

I like the Rubicon stickers for added capability. What a crock. We have Extreme Gutters in Huntsville- I guess they parachute onto the roof and do it commando style.

Bob Tasca, a brilliant Ford dealer, got stuck with a bunch of Ford Granadas once and turned them into a Tasca-Benz. Sold every one. Never fly today.

We have a Moratorium on non Rubies having the decals going with no defined time- and it includes Britain/Uk, and Canada as well- Tony Blair signed yall in when he was signing some other stuff.

Get them off and get pics posted asap and I’ll sign off for Chris to move you from a level 4 member to level 3, but remember he has last say, don’t blame me if it takes a while.

The 2 dash speakers are likely the pods with separate tweeters and 4" mids (4 speakers total). 4 speakers in dash + 2 sound bar dual-cone speakers + 1 console subwoofer = 7 speakers.
