I could make myself feel that way until I got to see how much axle wrap Metalcloak allowed. This isn't a simply rock crawling problem, since it also happens on the highway....
I wish you the best with your research.
The good news is that unless you are a hardcore rockcrawler and/or have a suspension with extreme travel that you actually use, you are unlikely to make a mistake with either brand even if some on this board won't think you are one of the Kool Kids if you don't buy the brand they like.
How the hell did you spend $1,200 on four control arms? You deserve the metalcloaks lolI just bought a set of adjustable Metalcloak control arms (double adjustable uppers, single lowers). I decided to do a tummy tuck, and these seemed like a good compromise between OEM arms, and something more upscale. Knowing a few people who seem to be happy with theirs didn't hurt, either. $1,200 and some change for the four. Forest service roads and the like is what I'm looking at. Haven't heard much about axle wrap being a concern before, but I'll watch for it. I know there's no love for these CA's, so I had some appropriate stickers made for us red-headed stepchildren to use...

Haha And there's the love. It was for eight control arms (I did mistakenly state four initially, and thusly, your poking fun at me was duly warranted!). Probably didn't need the adjustable fronts, but I did it anyways. Because, you know, I deserve it.How the hell did you spend $1,200 on four control arms? You deserve the metalcloaks lol
Not sure who that's for, exactly, but it's funny, regardless! You will be OK brother.
Don’t worry.
Yep, I was quite surprised to see torn duroflex joints after only 4 years. And that is 4 years with about 15k miles. That very well could be true depending on the reality of just how hard they're really pushed and wheeled. A member here commented here recently, within the last week, how his MC joints didn't hold up and needed to be replaced. He asked about replacing them with Johnny Joints.
Chris he has been in my desk again. Where are my regearing applications and modification consent forms @Squatch ? Sneaky little bastard, ain't I?Chris he has been in my desk again. Where are my regearing applications and modification consent forms @Squatch ? I’m covered up and don’t have time for this.
Killing me. Time to go over to new members and try to sell ‘em upgrades again.Sneaky little bastard, ain't I?
agreed, I made my choice and the main thing I cared about was doubt adjustable. Beyond that, choose the maintenance you want (they all require maintenance). No dog in this fight really. My Jeep will never see the kind of wheeling JV provides. If yours does, you will need a lot more help than control arm joint choice provides. Amazingly, I make it to work every day with my daily without control arm drama.
Pretty much. For 90% of us that actually drives our jeeps, The maintanence between the two is misunderstood.agreed, I made my choice and the main thing I cared about was doubt adjustable. Beyond that, choose the maintenance you want (they all require maintenance).
I do think it looks a little different, which people should be aware of. For the MC you’re replacing the whole joint. For the JJ you’re either regreasing or rebuilding (probably just replacing the race).Pretty much. For 90% of us that actually drives our jeeps, The maintanence between the two is misunderstood.
You left me out…is it because I have some arms with JJ’s on one end and Duroflex on the other? Those of us that have MC arms / joints and get along well with them aren't allowed to mention it here at savvyforum.

Also @hosejockey61 and @tworley . Everyone reports from their experience, all those of us with >N samples can share is based on that sample size. There’s lots of survivorship bias here. You left me out…is it because I have some arms with JJ’s on one end and Duroflex on the other?
