Are Metalcloak control arms any good?

...

I wish you the best with your research.

The good news is that unless you are a hardcore rockcrawler and/or have a suspension with extreme travel that you actually use, you are unlikely to make a mistake with either brand even if some on this board won't think you are one of the Kool Kids if you don't buy the brand they like.
I could make myself feel that way until I got to see how much axle wrap Metalcloak allowed. This isn't a simply rock crawling problem, since it also happens on the highway.

I just bought a set of adjustable Metalcloak control arms (double adjustable uppers, single lowers). I decided to do a tummy tuck, and these seemed like a good compromise between OEM arms, and something more upscale. Knowing a few people who seem to be happy with theirs didn't hurt, either. $1,200 and some change for the eight. Forest service roads and the like is what I'm looking at. Haven't heard much about axle wrap being a concern before, but I'll watch for it. I know there's no love for these CA's, so I had some appropriate stickers made for us red-headed stepchildren to use...;)

How the hell did you spend $1,200 on four control arms? You deserve the metalcloaks lol

Haha And there's the love. ;) It was for eight control arms (I did mistakenly state four initially, and thusly, your poking fun at me was duly warranted!). Probably didn't need the adjustable fronts, but I did it anyways. Because, you know, I deserve it. :sneaky:

The Savvy or the Metalcloak arms would both serve you extremely well. I know people running each and all are very well regarded. All report a much improved ride after install. Some coming from stock arms and some from other brand aftermarket arms. I don’t believe you’d be let down by either choice…

That very well could be true depending on the reality of just how hard they're really pushed and wheeled. A member here commented here recently, within the last week, how his MC joints didn't hold up and needed to be replaced. He asked about replacing them with Johnny Joints.
Yep, I was quite surprised to see torn duroflex joints after only 4 years. And that is 4 years with about 15k miles.

Chris he has been in my desk again. Where are my regearing applications and modification consent forms @Squatch ? I’m covered up and don’t have time for this.

No dog in this fight really. My Jeep will never see the kind of wheeling JV provides. If yours does, you will need a lot more help than control arm joint choice provides. Amazingly, I make it to work every day with my daily without control arm drama.

agreed, I made my choice and the main thing I cared about was doubt adjustable. Beyond that, choose the maintenance you want (they all require maintenance).

Pretty much. For 90% of us that actually drives our jeeps, The maintanence between the two is misunderstood.

I do think it looks a little different, which people should be aware of. For the MC you’re replacing the whole joint. For the JJ you’re either regreasing or rebuilding (probably just replacing the race).

I don’t have a good handle on the interval of either though, given I’ve read MCs going to 70k and JJs going for a decade.
