Bucket List Trails

Surprise Canyon Trail to Panamint City (Ghost Town) was a trail I always wanted to try, sadly it’s been closed for some time by environmentalists. @Jerry Bransford was fortunate to have attempted it, probably one of the toughest trails in the west back in the day.

I did a search and didn't find a similar thread, if there is one, please just point me to it.

What is your list of "bucket list" trails (individual, areas, or parks) that you want to do. Having only been Jeeping for a few years, I am just starting to build my list and am looking for help on expanding. Unfortunately, l live very far from most (but not all) of my bucket list.

My list:
-Moab (area) - completed this past April, but I want to go back. Mostly for trails and scenery.
-Dusy-Ershim - While I don't think it would be the most technical, the length and scenery appeal to me. Three lakes above 10K ft. Would most likely try to work in some surrounding trails if I drive 3 days to get there! (coyote trail, mirror lake, red lake, etc...).
-Rubicon Trail - History and the scenery
-Colorado - I still need to do some research in order to put a good trip together, but most likely will base out of Ouray. Mostly due to scenery, but I would be looking for some tech stuff thrown in there.
-Johnson Valley - hoping for non-stop technical, but right now I am just basing on hearsay, I haven't done any research.
-Kentucky Adventure Trail - overlanding adventure
-SMORR - Park in Missouri that I looks like it would be good.
-Harlan KY - non-stop tech in the east.
-Green Acres-Clayton, OK - non-stop big rocks.

I know there are a lot of areas/trails out there that I have not heard about (Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, North West, North East, etc....) that I should have on my list, let's hear 'em.
Not too far from Green Acres is Rugged Mountain Ranch, RMR. Flex Rocks and Rollovers did a 24hrs to hell and back video there.

There and Green Acres, big boi rocks!

I'm omw to wolf caves now, never been there.

It was a beautiful canyon but we couldn't make it all the way up past the waterfalls which were flowing a lot of water.

Luckily where you're moving has OFF and ON ramps on their highways to give you the thrill on climbing again. You might be undergeared for deep mud and sand though. I raced motocross in Fl and sand is their thing.
p.s. Maybe listen to Fishtaco and his mighty 29" tires and 3.07s. Whatever you do, NEVER drink his PBR!

I’m with you, I keep a list of places I’d like to visit and explore. I’ve got a lot of the same places on my list. I’d love to wheel in Arizona one day. Chris and @starkey480 seem to have no shortage of good wheeling out there.

There's no shortage of good wheeling out here.

I would tell all those Moab guys they should actually be wheeling down here. While Moab may be more scenic (in some areas), the wheeling down here is nothing short of epic.

..... and better picture takers than me.

Oh and Texas has good trails too. Barnwell and Bridgeport are mostly red clay and mud, Hidden Falls is mild but fun, but further west is Mason, also called the “Moab of Texas” with K2 (katemcy rocks) and wolf caves, and Stillwaters ranch - haven’t been to those yet but will soon.
Tim and I did Stillwater’s Ranch. I think they were only open a few weekends a year. We were fortunate to get in for a few hours. We were guided for a little while and then he let us go. There was probably quite a bit of stuff we couldn’t do at the time (both on 33’s and open). It had limestone, but it also had red rock and clay, which was different from both Hidden Falls and Wolf Caves. I highly recommend Wolf Caves. There is a lot you can do there. Katemcy is not as recommended just because there is not much you can do with your rig or mine. Even a rig on 35’s isn’t going to find a lot of trails he can do. Katemcy is the property behind Wolf Caves. I think Wolf Caves is 50x’s better than Katemcy, even though Katemcy is probably more well known, or at least used to be. Genright website lists Wolf Caves as one of the top 12 places to wheel in the country.

I never heard of Fordyce until recently. Did some google research while I was supposed to be paying attention during a zoom meeting today and I am definitely adding it to the list. Most likely will try to group some N Cali trails into one trip.

I got more research to do on the other trails, keep them coming!

Yep this trail was on my bucket list too. Had a buddy who did it right before it was closed in a Samurai. He had a epic picture 📸 on one of water falls.
Maybe it will get opened again someday.
