Shop broke my transfer case

Yeah I'm gonna call a friend of mine and see if he might be able to help me trailer it to one of those spots. Tow company yesterday charged my 150$ to bring it from Sparta to Cookeville.
If by chance you take it to Tom's in Chattanooga tell Brandon at the counter I sent you, they have never done work for me, but I have bought a bunch of stuff from them and know folks that have had them work on their rigs and loved their work.

Looks like the old mechanic lost some of my old driveshaft parts so if I wanted a junk Tcase I'd need an old drive shaft to get it running again. So I might be waiting until my Tcase gets fixed as it at least has all the parts I need being delivered soon.

If you do buy a different t-case, make sure you get one out of a 6cyl TJ. The semi-local one linked in this thread says it was mounted behind an AX5 transmission, so it has a different input shaft than you would need.

Ok so I got a new shop to fix the t case fixed and they got it back in and its apparently fine. Then they said that they couldn't get the front drive shaft in while the jeep was raised on a lift and suspension was at full drop. Apparently the front DS was too long and could only get back in if its on the ground. I'm going the shop in like an hour and I'll try to get some pictures. The Jeep can be driven and put in 4Hi/low just the front DS only has 1/2" of play is what they said.

What can I do to fix this? I'm sure I could order a front DS from Tom Woods and get it figured out but that takes some time and money I need to wait on. I have a T case drop on as well, If I took that out and the rear didn't have any problems could that help my issue with the front? Worst comes to worst I know I can just take the front out until I get it sorted but I'd like to be able to go off road soon.

So the front DS is a replacement and not the one the factory installed? If it truly is too long and not just 'stuck' at its slip joint, any competent driveshaft can easily shorten it for you for a lot less $$$ than a new one would cost.

But first I'd closely examine the driveshaft before reinstalling it. After marking it on both sides so you can put it back together so the two halves are clocked correctly, I'd pull it apart and clean the splines and the female half. Maybe someone pulled it apart already and put so much grease on the inside splines that the grease is now packed inside and not letting the male half in all the way.

Sorry I should have made my post more clear, The front driveshaft is the stock one. This whole adventure has been me trying to get an advance adapters SYE installed on the rear along with a rear TW DCDS. I figured I could keep the front Ds as the stock one for now and not run into too many issues. Eventually I wanted a TW front DS but was holding out till I could save up a little.

The factory driveshaft has more than 1/2" of slip-joint range, I'd at least pull it apart (after marking both halves) and clean/grease the slip joint. Make sure there's no old grease packing the bottom of the female half.

For now, check the slip at ride height and make sure it has a small amount of spline showing, 1" or so will do it. If that is the case, mark the yoke's orientation on the driveshaft tube so you get it back together correctly and then pull it and cut 5/8" off the end of the splines, round over the sharp edge and then install it. It is quite common for the stocker to be slightly too long at full droop.

Thank you sir, do you know of any good videos that I could follow to make sure I do it right?

The only thing to get wrong is not knowing the orientation of the two halves of the driveshaft when you put them back together. Just put a mark (sharpie, tape, engrave, radioactive tracer, etc) matching the 2 halves.

@Jerry Bransford @mrblaine my mechanic and I decided to leave the front DS out till I could get it fixed. I got a video of myself moving the spline pretty freely. I do not know if this is max compression or not but apparently the Front DS when installed on the ground only had 1/2" of compression left. Is cutting it down what I should go for here?

Mechanic said measurements from the centers of the U joins was 38 1/2" and the shafts was 40 1/2", so I figure if I need to cut it then go for like 2 inches?

Also I got some before and after pics of my old rear Ds and new TW one:
