You can remove the pin, it's obviously difficult. It is just there to align the angled adapter that block had originally. I think the hole doesn't go anywhere so it wont cause any flow problems if you remove it.
clamp a pair of vise grips on it and tap the vise grips with a hammer, it'll come out !
Huh? It's for an XJ? I still don't get it lol, so it works its way down out of position so it gets in the way like that?
Pin is installed correctly for the 90 degree adapter, I wouldn't run one that's for sure. I think the filter mounts pointing downward on a Cherokee and that pin keeps the adapter from spinning.
