Any good bolt-on roof rack options?

This looks good. I saw your other post about the Surco mount on the site but these pics help a lot. I have the exact same model in the same color, so this pic is ideal. May be the way to go!

Any good bolt-on roof rack options?

    How did you attach it?

Any good bolt-on roof rack options?

Without going full exterior cage for overlanding, is there a good option for a hard top roof rack without modifying the hard top? I like the idea of adding rails or a basket for extra storage on trips, but I would rather not drill into a virgin factory hard top in pristine condition. Thoughts...

Newest horse in the stable - 2006 X (65th Anniversary)

That’s how my 98 SE was. I’d be fine with that. Even the seat back won’t fold forward though.

Newest horse in the stable - 2006 X (65th Anniversary)

It should at least fold though, right? It has the upper bolster lever like the passenger seat and the door side of the seat acts as though it wants to pull forward, but the console side of the seat is bound up somehow. Ever encountered anything like that?

Newest horse in the stable - 2006 X (65th Anniversary)

The shop out back allows that garage to stay nice and clean (except the persistent leaves). It’s loaded down with said Jeep crap!

Newest horse in the stable - 2006 X (65th Anniversary)

My first TJ bought almost a year ago was a complete disaster. Chalking it up to my own ignorance and not throwing the baby out with the bath water, I’m giving it another go. After selling the 1998 SE 2.5, I took a couple of weeks to assess what the market offered. Here’s what I found. It’s a...

Who is carrying a JK sport wheel and tire on their spare carrier?

Yeah that looks like the ticket. Thanks for sharing this!

Who is carrying a JK sport wheel and tire on their spare carrier?

Yes you’ve got it. And, since my carrier was 5x4.5 I had to use a spacer anyway to go from 5x4.5 to 5x5. Still no luck. It would seem I can get the carrier with the spacer to mate to the back of the lug holes, but because the wheel/tire is as large as it is, the bumper is an obstacle in shutting...

Who is carrying a JK sport wheel and tire on their spare carrier?

Several months ago I swapped a set of 35/12.50/15 M/Ts for 33/11.50/17 A/Ts. With a reinforced carrier, the 35/12.50/15 M/T mounted without issue (weight and tax on the tailgate aside). Now that I have removed the 3" body lift and without the deep-dish backspacing of the previous 15" wheel, I...

Metallic grinding noise during full turns

It had 35/12.50/15 on it but now they're 33/11.50/17 with 4" of suspension lift and 1.5" spacers (the wheels are JK sports). I don't think that's it but to your point, better to eliminate all possibilities.

Metallic grinding noise during full turns

That's the question I'm wrestling with. Would this cause a grind/crunch at full left or full right? Theoretically no, but a grind/crunch we have. The missing gearing and the presence of the grind seem related.

Metallic grinding noise during full turns

Alright here it is. Doesn't look like the inside of any other Wrangler diff pic I've seen, which doesn't seem like a good thing. Educate me please. What am I up against here?

Metallic grinding noise during full turns

My buddy at the shop who replaced the fluid and seals grabbed a pic of the inside of the front diff. I will see if he can send it to me. He took it because I hadn't told him the r/p wasn't there, so he was surprised when he didn't see it.

Metallic grinding noise during full turns

Yeah I agree. I haven't seen anything external with pretty close examination. I would also assume I'd see some "knock-off" shavings in my driveway/garage since that's one of the most common places. It does seem like it must be somewhere in the front axle/differential perhaps.

Metallic grinding noise during full turns

You know, I hadn't thought about it but I could see that. Problem is that I had JKS disconnects and it did it, and a couple of months ago I replaced them with fixed links from RC and it still does it, so I'm inclined to rule it out. Good thought though.

U-joints have been done. I should have added that.

Metallic grinding noise during full turns

Hadn’t thought about trying to manually reproduce. What’s your thought if I can reproduce it with the vehicle powered down?

Metallic grinding noise during full turns

Either I’ve found a way to stump the internet or my question is so inane no one is courageous enough to engage me at this point? So I win?

Metallic grinding noise during full turns

In January I bought my first TJ and paid too much for it... there, said it. It's a 2.5L with 85k original miles and no rust, so I got excited and overlooked too many other things. That said, the PO told me the ring/pinion in the front diff was missing and the transfer case was disconnected...
