Is this normal steering shaft movements?

I’ll see if I can snap a pic tomorrow. I stopped by a “custom” car shop a few months ago and he told me everything up front looks good as far as angles go, but it won’t hurt for y’all to take a look at it too! My RTC is only about 80% on my steering wheel too. I adjusted my caster up to 6* and...

Is this normal steering shaft movements?

I’m not overly concerned with it - since I fixed the sway bar links it rides much better. I still feel safe when driving, but figure if I can get some insight on how to fix it, great!

    Best soft top

X100 to the Bestop. I have a Sailcloth Replace-a-Top on mine and it’s great. In hindsight I wouldn’t have minded springing for the Twill now that it’s all said and done - I have half doors, and they’re loud - but otherwise I have no issue. The PO had put 1 Smittybuilt half door on one side...

Is this normal steering shaft movements?

I replaced it with one from Orielly’s. I know they’re not the preferred option on WTF, but I was really just doing it to see if it helped any - and it made no difference from the original one to the new one. I used an digital angle finder I bought off of Amazon. It’s magnetic and just stick on...

Is this normal steering shaft movements?

Drudging up an old post here….. I’ve addressed/fixed my darting issue (it was bad sway bar links - they’ve been replaced), but I’m still dealing with some steering wheel play. Steering wheel still has about ~1” of play either way (11:00 - 1:00) that doesn’t do anything with the wheels. When I...

    Anyone Running 33" Pizza Cutters?

I've got a 4" Zone suspension lift. It was put on by the PO, and I've replaced a few of the original parts, but I haven't increased the height any.

    Anyone Running 33" Pizza Cutters?

I’ve got 33x10.50 BFG KO2’s on 15x8 rims with 3.75 backspacing. No complaints here.

What are some good, cheap adjustable control arms?

I have Core 4X4 Tier 1 on my front uppers/lowers. I’m yet to replace the rears, although I probably need to. I’m not too terribly rough on mine (only some light off-roading), and they’ve been great so far. I have no complaints regarding the quality, but if I were doing it over again, I would...

    Tackett Creek, TN Snow

I’ve got a 0* bag, but I’m not sure I believe it. It’s a really old, off-brand - guess we will find out. How were the trails? Did you do Turkey Bay? I haven’t been in probably 15 years.

    Tackett Creek, TN Snow

That was my plan as well - tarp on ground, tent, then a large blanket on the floor. My tent is just a cheap $50 one from Amazon, and it doesn’t appear to have great ventilation. Good to know on the propane bottles for the Mr. Buddy too!

    Tackett Creek, TN Snow

@gasiorv how was camping in the cold weather? I’m heading to Land Between the Lakes in west KY/TN in couple of weeks for camping/wheeling. I’ve got a small tent with a full rain-fly (allegedly it’s “all weather” but idk), and a Mr. Buddy heater.

    Steering Soft Return to Center

It’s standard mounting - no drop brackets or anything like that. Am I off by suspecting the play around 10-2 in the steering wheel could be coming from my internal steering components (like the steering shaft)? It tracks straight, but it’s like the road can move the wheels if it dips and the...

    Steering Soft Return to Center

If I let go of the wheel in the jeep, any dip in the road will turn the wheels/steering wheel, and it will stay there. In my other vehicles, even if the road pulls the wheels, the steering always corrects back to center. I’m assuming that my steering wheel play is the root of this.

    Steering Soft Return to Center

My steering RTC is crap too. I had/have been chasing this problem for the last year. I adjusted my caster from 5* to 6* and it made very minimal, if any difference to my RTC. Along the way (not all related to RTC issues) I’ve also replaced the steering box, and completely changed tie-rod ends...

    Track Bar Bolt Spinning

When it was up on the lift at the shop, it did NOT spin freely. The nut spun, the stud did not, so it appears to be fine. They invited me into the shop because they were confused what I was asking them to do since everything was working properly. They tightened it down really good while I was...

    Track Bar Bolt Spinning

I haven’t checked it yet, but I will do that asap.

    Track Bar Bolt Spinning

I just returned the extra track bar. I didn’t return any tools….. instead of buying 1 size wrench when I need it, I always end up with a whole set 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Track Bar Bolt Spinning

My local shop was very confused…. when they put the jeep up on the lift, they could loosen/tighten the bolt with ease without the stud moving. I guess the pressure that was put on the stud when they lifted it allowed them to be able to tighten it with no issue. They checked it out and said it...

    Track Bar Bolt Spinning

I tried the floor jack on the TRE, and the pry bar on the TRE. Nothing changes. Still spins freely in both directions, easily. I went ahead and dropped it at my local shop to have them check it out. Most likely they’ll have to cut it off, but a pretty strong consensus thinks that because it...
