Why does the inside of the hood look like this?

Just in case someone else comes along with questions or wanting pictures of the hood insulation or the under carpet padding. Here's the full hood insulation on my '05 Unlimited: And the padding under the carpet (cargo area): I guess there are adhesive materials I could try and apply to...

Why does the inside of the hood look like this?

I learn something new everyday with these things; especially how 'stock' for a TJ Unlimited doesn't always equal 'stock' for the normal TJ. Thanks for following up.

Why does the inside of the hood look like this?

My hood still has its insulation blanket up there, but around a couple of attachment points it's beginning to lose the battle against gravity. I wish I knew, or could figure out, a way to reinforce it so it could continue to keep on keepin' on. The thick padding you mention, is that the heavy...

What is the plug type on the fog lights

Depending on year, you could use one of the following sets: 1997-2004s: https://www.quadratec.com/products/97109_0905_14.htm 1997s-2006s: https://www.quadratec.com/products/97109_09X6_PG.htm I bought and cut a set of these because I wanted to maintain the original wiring but wanted to...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Took the windows off after work yesterday for the drive home. Left them rolled up in the Clover Patch roll. I've since driven the Jeep for whatever errands I can just because. Today I took my wife by her work so we could feed some (non-poisonous) poison dart frogs.

Thanks for the compliment. Sorry, no, I do not have a spare frame.

    DIY Leather Shift Boot

Thanks much. I appreciate the offer, but I can't beat the price of a place like Redline Goods.

Is there a stereo unit that matches the stock in appearance, but with a USB or at least aux jack?

I really appreciate you starting that thread. I'm not in the market for a new radio yet (I stuck a Bluetooth on the backside of my original radio); but if my Jeep's OEM radio ever dies, I'm totally going the Continental route.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Received a new transmission cover earlier this week. I got it installed this evening and did final installation of my new shift boot and retro knob.

    DIY Leather Shift Boot

Thanks, it helps to have some years of leather work experience. I was worried about how I'd find the frame when I started, but I got lucky. I took good reference photos and some micrometer measurements just in case I ever wanted to get one made out of metal sheet. It looks relatively simple...

What manual shifter knob do you have?

I wanted a knob that was a call-back to my uncle's CJ-2A I grew up driving. I ended up buying an old-school style knob from Core Shifter because theirs was a hard plastic/acetate material outside with metal threaded interior (below, top picture). I purchased a knob with 1/2"-13 threads. To get...

    DIY Leather Shift Boot

My original shift boot had developed a couple of worn-through spots, so I decided I'd make my own replacement. I tried to document the process if you think you'd like to attempt the same. My LJ is a 2005, it comes with the unobtainium metal frame, so these notes will work for like-equipped...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Finally able to test-fit my new shift knob and the shift boot I made. Quite happy with both. I ordered a new inner shift boot and it is scheduled to arrive early next week, so everything came back off until that job is done.

Is there a stereo unit that matches the stock in appearance, but with a USB or at least aux jack?

If I ever had to replace my factory radio, I think I'd go the Continental route: https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/i-found-a-nearly-oem-looking-head-unit-that-has-bluetooth-and-hands-free-calling-made-by-continental.24499/ They offer radios that look stock, and range in features from...

    Who rotates the spare tire?

I currently only have one jack and pair of stands, so the one tire at a time works best for me. I'm getting quicker having done it a couple of of times. It's like choreography, all steps done on one then repeat on the next.

Current Rebate: AutoLite Iridium XP Plugs

O'Reilly is currently running a rebate on a couple brands of spark plugs. If you are looking for some AutoLite Iridium XPs, here's a chance to get some and receive a $3 mail-in rebate PER PLUG. Shortly after getting my LJ I bought a set of these based on what I read in this forum and have had...

    Who rotates the spare tire?

I do. I didn't have a matched spare when I got my Jeep. The dealship where I purchased had put new tires on the ground, but not the spare. I later matched the spare so I could do all 5 at the same time. Rotating them all at the same time means I only have one tire removed at a time. No need to...

    Factory Fog Lamp Wiring?

Sorry man. I stuck that in here as I've seen folks not know that cap is designed to be pulled out. I hope you find a fix for yours.
