Pennsylvania AOAA Run on Saturday March 25th, 2023

No worries everyone. Just found out that my daughter has a softball double header now so the trip is off for me. I might just bag this season to build the one tons and LS instead of waiting until the fall. We shall see.

Bessy the Rock Rod - A Crawler Built in Stages

Love your build. It's cool to see another 4-banger going full crawler. Any thoughts on a V8 swap? My build followed a similar path and now I'm going 1 ton's and an LS swap. Keep up the great work!!

    Bump, who wants to wheel?

I’m about 7.5 hours from Windrock. I usually wheel in PA as I’m about 3 hours from Rausch Creek and AOAA. Windrock is on my list of spots I want to wheel though.

I’d love to get out to Windrock. I don’t know if Good Evening Ranch is closer for you, but I’ve heard great things about that place as well. The rig should be 100% ready by next season.

I have the truss, hydro mount and track bar mount welded up to the 60: I heated the whole axle up to 450* before I got to welding using a torch attached to a propane tank. So now the 60 is almost ready for gears. Next on the list in the rear 10.5. Should be a lot easier than the front 60.

Pennsylvania AOAA Run on Saturday March 25th, 2023

I'm planning on heading up to AOAA on 3/25 to hit the trails for the first run of the year for me. My plan is to run blues and blacks and have some fun. Rig in good working order with a working winch is a must. The ratings here are generally a little tougher than say Rausch Creek. A blue at...

Yeah, I'm researching what to do about the harness. At the moment, my plan is a stand alone harness for a manual trans from someone like Painless. I've seen PCMs available already setup for the motor type and manual trans for swaps. I'm still doing a bunch of research, but that seems the...

I was able to spend some more time on the Dana 60 and got her mostly stripped down. Just need to clean some minor items. Here is the passenger side done:

Thanks for the kind words @Rickyd It's been a fun evolution for sure. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have. So i found a great deal on a TH400 trans, which is pretty awesome since they are so bullet proof. Just a little clean up and she'll look good as new: I came with a 2000...

A lesson learned—keep it light and nimble!

I'm glad everything went well with your surgery. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!

For those interested in the Dana 60 cutting/grinding, here is where I stand at the moment: Still need to finish the driver side, but I started with that side since it’s the biggest pain in the ass. This took about 3 hours total. I did about an hour each time. Slow and methodical. No rush, but...

I took a break from cutting and grinding on the Dana 60 to tackle a quick side step job. These steps are longer than I needed, so I cut them down and added sleeves to keep them strong: And here is how it looked welded to my existing rocker guard: These will serve as a step and a pivot point for...

Extending rear brake line for stretch

Sorry for the late response. Sounds good. Let me know if you have any questions!

Extending rear brake line for stretch

I don't have a picture at the moment, but what I did was straighten out the hard line and welded a new tab closer to the rear axle on my 5" stretch. The extended soft line I already had on there provided plenty of slack for full stuff and full droop. I'll look to get a picture here shortly.

Savvy Mid Arm Axle Side Bracket Positions Needed

Are you using a TJ axle or something else in the front. The Savvy truss has you cut the existing mount on top of the diff. The CA bracket is just to the passenger side of that old mount.

Front Stretch vs Rear Stretch Benefits

I stretched the rear of my TJ 5". As part of this, I also outboarded the rear shocks. The biggest thing I noticed is the stability of the rig overall. The rear departure angle is outstanding. Barely even hit the bumper anymore. Road manners seem better as well. Steep hill climbs are...

I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but I will be doing an LS swap as part of all this. I thought about keeping the 4 banger in there at first, maybe I will, but it's not making a lot of sense with the front half kit I'll be doing since I'm going full hydro. Not sure the AX5 would do very...
