    Any Heavy Readers Here?

Just finished Team of Rivals - I found it to be excellent. I enjoy learning about the civil war though.

2003 Jeep TJ 4.0 will not turn over

In my case the melted switch caused issues with the headlights. I’d put on the high beams but they wouldn’t change. One of my headlights was really dim all the time. I also noticed that the fog lights wouldn’t turn off when the high beams were turned on……stuff like that. When I replaced the...

    What was your first Jeep?

1986 CJ-7 Renegade It was a hunk of junk but my dad and I spent the summer of my 16th birthday getting it roadworthy. Some of my favorite memories. I learned a lot keeping it on the road. I sold it when I purchased my 2003 Rubicon - I still miss it though.

I was definitely using them properly but after 20 years they didn’t want to work like they were supposed to.

Replacing fuel skid without dropping tank entirely

I’ll admit that my thumb is sore today from mashing on the tabs trying to get them to release. I was patient and at times frustrated but they popped loose after working with them. Mine hadn’t ever been removed and I had your same concerns when I decided to remove the tank. I think you’ll be...

Replacing fuel skid without dropping tank entirely

Agreed. I just replaced my fuel tank skid yesterday. It’s not that bad to drop the tank. Did it myself with the help of a transmission jack in about 2 hours. Those quick connect fuel line fittings were the biggest time consuming part.

Bosch fuel pump strainer / filter question

Thank you for that link. I got the tank dropped this evening. It wasn’t too bad but definitely annoying. I have been randomly spraying the bolts with Kroil for about two weeks so it came apart pretty easily. The skid plate was toast.

Bosch fuel pump strainer / filter question

How hard was it to remove the old pump and install the new one in the fuel pump assembly?

Bosch fuel pump strainer / filter question

That’s not great news but I appreciate the heads up. I’m planning on dropping the tank tomorrow so I reckon I’ll find out. I was somewhat apprehensive about rebuilding the assembly with the new pump. I wondered how difficult it would be to disassemble the assembly.

Bosch fuel pump strainer / filter question

Wow!! Fast response. I had considered replacing the pressure regulator but couldn’t decide on a specific brand to buy. Any suggestions??

Bosch fuel pump strainer / filter question

I’ve got to drop the fuel tank on my 2003 and have been gathering up components to replace the fuel pump while the tank is down. I’m at 20 years and 150k miles on the original pump so I think it’s wise to replace it. I’ve read on here that a fella can simply replace the pump with a Bosch pump...

What other projects are you working on?

I made some progress on my SAS Colorado camping truck today. I’m building a rear bumper/tire carrier. I’ve got loads of work to do but you get the idea.

Accessories that suck (in a good way)

I’ve been using a SeaSucker mount for about a decade. I mounted a small(ish) led spot light to it and utilized a SeaSucker so I can move the light where I want it. It works really well - better if the surface is wet.

2003 Jeep TJ 4.0 will not turn over

The old plug pretty much fell apart in my hand. There is a “kit” I found that supplies a new one. The kit came with a wiring harness that I didn’t use. Just replace one wire at a time and it’s super easy. See the attached photo for the wiring diagram to see what wire powers what.
