There is a seal at the 42rle output, there is also a seal on the input shaft of the 231. The space between (the adapter housing) is dry. I replaced both seals, and have been driving it in 2wd since sunday. no leaks yet. I should also mention that i rebuilt the transfer case. I should also...

It was not leaking at the shift rod cover. Leaking at the weep hole between the transmission and the t case adapter housing. The range selection doesn't make sense to me either, but that's what's happening.

Transfer case out. Input shaft seal replaced. Waiting for rtv to cure.

Update. Took it for a drive. It does not leak in 2wd. When I put it in 4wd it leask. I am assuming it is the seal on the xfer case input shaft. Whicknside faces toward the xfer case?

Output seems fine. Don't see any wear. Greased prior to installation. What brand is recomended?

Lip is facing in. Both times.

National oil seal #710058. Hence en Mexico.

I have a massive leak from the weep hole between the 42rle and the transfer case adapter. I replaced the seal with a national 710058, twice. Really frustrating. Do I have the wrong part number? Or do I suck at replacing seals?
