In my case I was referring to idle when stand still but I checked again today. It is actually at around 750rpm also. I think it showed 1250rpm after I did a cold start. In any case alongside what you suggested I am also going to clean up the throttle body components and see what that brings. And...
Hi all. Ref Jeep TJ 2004 automatic.
Occasionally when I drive real slow at idle engine speed (1250rpm) and typically at 2mph, the engine would cut off. No stuttering. It just stops running. I can then immediately restart it and it will be fine. No issue when driving faster. Smooth idle and...
I have finally discovered what caused the lighting issue. Sometimes they would work and then equally fast all lights would go off again. And always when driving on rough road. So I knew it must have been a loose collection somewhere. Turns out it was a stray wire behind the radio that kept...
Hello @CodaMan, are you sure about that? My 2004 TJ manual says they are. I’m based in the UK where ethanol mix is big news currently as from this month regular fuel is only sold with 10% instead of 5%. Only premium (higher octane) will still have 5%. Attached are screenshots from my manual. Cheers!
I may have found a local specialist near Godalming. Does any one know them? I am going to visit tomorrow. Seems to have a ton of experience which is a good sign. http://www.surreyoff-road.com/index.html
That’s a shame. There is otherwise Buzz Vehicles near Enfield. Bit far still for normal maintenance and they mainly work on JKs and JLs. I find them friendly enough but they are not keen to work on TJs based on my experience when I spoke with them. So for basic maintenance we have to stick...
Hi there. No I have not but I have been meaning to pay Safari Engineering a visit who are in Eversley. They are Land Rover specialists but may be happy to look after us with our TJs.
Question about front lights wiring on 2004 TJ. I can see two side feeds alongside the main headlight wiring. I have a copy of the wiring diagram so I assume A or B are for daytime running / side lights or front fog lights. Am I right?
@Steel City 06 many thanks for your input. I will give all that a try. I last checked for any loose connections and there seemed to have been none but did not use multimeter to check voltage on the right cable. Will keep searching...
2004 Extreme Sport TJ - For some time now I cannot fault find why the gauges on my dash don’t light up. All other dash lights work, just the gauges don’t light up when I turn my headlights on. The dimmer only dims the odometer. Any other interior lights such as behind the climate control panel...
Hi there. Thanks for the video you shared. I have a similar issue where the gauges are not lit up. When I do a test as done on the video, it comes up with bus 60, bus 61, and bus 68. Would you have any idea what this points to? Thanks Tony
I need to fit a rear fog light to make sure my Japanese imported TJ is road legal in the UK. I can not locate the existing wiring which according to the service manual is fitted. Does anyone know where I should be looking? I have found the wiring to light the licence plate (left and right as in...
Some great advice Dieseljeep; appreciated. The step by step try and testing method is probably the way I need to go whilst I put the roof top tent idea on hold. The hitch mount I will be using is the one from the smittybilt XRC rear bumper; class III mount.
Thanks for that view. I am based in the UK, and that is the only rack on offer from any of the traders here. Shipping from the US for anything else is super expensive sadly.
