The Pickle / Jurassic Pickle, Nostalgia Build With My Kids

We got the passenger door pulled apart, inner door handle replaced and striker adjusted. Door opens and closes better now but you we have to pull the inside door lever too far for it to work really well, lever flexes and looks like it’s going break off. I think the latch needs additional...

    Small Camping Trailer

Here is the route I decided to take. I’m starting with a light gauge tube frame, the center will either be open or have a lid but it will be for heavy things. Started messing with light placement too. Going very basic. Trying to get it towable and functional and make changes and additions over time.

The Pickle / Jurassic Pickle, Nostalgia Build With My Kids

We got the steering mostly on, about 95% done. Still need to tighten the stabilizer bolts. 1 new lower control arm is in, the one that needed replaced(driver front). I ordered 2 because of one side needs replaced the other does too. Well they sent me 2 different stock style arms so I have to...

Share your lift results with H&R springs

I’ve been down the lifted TJ rabbit hole a few times. Maintaining as close to stock height but not so squishy is the goal, on 31s. It’s a basic daily driver keep and I intend to keep it that way for the kids daily driving. I’ve got a winch for the front we got for free, basically unused so it’ll...

That’s good feedback. Week to week “loaded” would back packs, band instruments, athletic bags, and whatever else a couple teenagers. Occasional bike rack and 2 mountain bikes. Maybe a 2 person camping trip once a year.

Share your lift results with H&R springs

Looking identical to the ones we pulled out of the box this weekend for our jeep. Hahaha. How’s the ride quality with that combo? I’m seriously considering the H&R springs for what I hope will be a better carrying capacity but not a garbage ride. Stock springs are soft like marshmallow.

The Pickle / Jurassic Pickle, Nostalgia Build With My Kids

The new correct steering kit I found is essentially a heavy TJ drag link with a ZJ tie rod all as a kit. I can’t return the RHD steering because it’s been too long. Hoping to find a local that needs an RHD steering linkage setup for cheap so I don’t have to eat the whole thing.

1997 TJ Sport Fog Light Circuit

The black wires from the jeep at the fog light locations are the grounds and were connected the black wires on the lights. Blue is power and wired to the red on the lights.

The Pickle / Jurassic Pickle, Nostalgia Build With My Kids

Finally some progress! 2 forward and 1 back. New Track bar, check! New front shocks, check! New steering linkage…I messed up and ordered RHD parts…so another round of parts and hopefully I can send those back. 14YO did good work today but he’s going to need to hit the gym if he’s going to work...

The Pickle / Jurassic Pickle, Nostalgia Build With My Kids

Finally got some work done with the 14YO, all new speakers, connectors, head unit, and mount. We found another round of “custom” wiring that we cut out and got fixed. This thing has been full of this crap(see pic 1). Picked up a basic Sony round of equipment, still Single Din head unit...

    MTB brakes

I really like Shimano SM-RT86 Rotors, they work with resin and metallic pads well. They were really on sale for a while, I bought enough sets to put them on all my bikes. You might also make sure your pads aren’t glazed. That can really take the bite out of them.

New Camping Boxes/Dewalt Tough System 2.0

So I found these dewalt boxes at the hardware store and figured they might make a good camp kitchen setup. Both boxes together about $200. Drawers are sturdy and latch closed, latches all seem to work well and the foot print is way better than my old boxes I was using that didn’t fit really well...

Winch Mount and In Dash Wiring

This is our little Jeep TJ “The Pickle”, my kids and I have been working on it and one of our next big projects is adding this winch. It was taken off my dad’s jeep in favor of a Ramsey Patriot 9500 and has been sitting 5-6 years. It was a free winch so figured we should give it a home on the...

    Camp Chairs and Back Injury

I am trying find a camp chair that can work with my back problems. I have a lower disc herniation and good lumbar support is crucial along with not being too acute of an angle while sitting, it causes the disc bulge out more. Small and packable, small enough to pack on a bicycle or throw. In the...

1997 TJ Sport Fog Light Circuit

We have spent a while today trying to trouble shoot the fog light circuit in our 97 TJ. We don’t have the factory relay/fuse box lid any more and relying on google hasn’t yielded much of a result yet. The interior switch appears to be working correctly. Head lights on, flip fog light switch...

    Sagging Tailgate

Is this much sag from worn hinges? Body tube infrastructure failing? Just bad alignment? Bad Striker location? When I got the jeep it had no spare tire mount or spare so I figure they didn’t have or if they did it was on a tire carrier. Any how, all I have on it is a 31x10.50r15 on an alloy...
