    Learning to wrench

Just start wrenching. I’ve been doing it’ since I was a teen and had some help from my dad early on, but most of what I’ve learned is from just jumping in and working my way through it. I’m still learning how to do things today which is why I’m on this forum, lots of good advice here.

    TJ Fest 2021 - Moab (April 24 – May 1, 2021)

Between my dog and my kid there’s nothing that’s not sticky. Builds the immune system I guess.

    Thank you TJFest 2021

Thanks to all the experienced off roaders showing patience for us fairly new folks to the hobby. I learned a lot about the capabilities of the jeep and felt welcome the entire time. So when is the unofficial 2022 TJ Fest?

Has the TJ reached classic car level?

Good point, I looked for a stock jeep so I could build it from there. I would guess with the Jeep and modifications, I am in about $20K. I doubt I could get close to that if I were to try and sell it. Now that I know more about the effort and cost to modify, I would look for a Jeep with...

My wife said “you may have to get another Jeep” when your son starts driving”. I said “I like the way you think”

@Apparition ran it and made it look easy. I considered it for about a second.

I saw a stock four runner go through that last year. Tons of body damage.

We saw that guy on Hell, Some of those Broncos were very nice, but their stance a high center of gravity builds don’t seem as practical compared to some of the Jeep builds.

Has the TJ reached classic car level?

It’s like the RV craze here in the US. Give it a year or two and you will see a bunch of lightly used RVs for sale at discount prices. Toyota’s go really quick here in CO, especially the first generation Tacoma’s.

Nice job. We saw a bunch of Broncos doing that and every one of them had a tire in the air. The Broncos sit really high. Yours made it look easy.

That too, I might need a second job.

I realized a few things about half way down that decent. I need a lot more armor, better brakes, and possibly bigger tires. An automatic would be nice to help smooth out the throttle a bit.

I took the bypass, which wasn’t much easier.

We did Steel Bender today and I have to say that is a now one of my favorite trails. Just enough Techinical stuff to make exciting but not over the top crazy stuff. Thanks @Apparition for organizing this group and thanks @stockjeep for spotting me on some of the drops.

The book has two steel benders, I’m assuming we are meeting at the TH off west water near the golf course.

It helps that the rock in Moab is like sand paper so you have a lot more traction than most places.

Fun day out a metal masher! Definitely at the limit for my rig, but we made it through.

I had a a guy check out my TJ and he talked about it like it was some classic vehicle. I do see TJ out on trails but compared to the new Jeep’s they are becoming fewer and fewer.
