Is my front driveshaft too long?

But it should drop way more than it moves backwards causing the distance to expand.

Is my front driveshaft too long?

I think I would measure yoke to yoke at ride height then call Adams and ask them what length the drive shaft should be, but it shouldn't be too long at full drop.

    First Jeep, a 2004 LJ

Seriously? You have argued with every statement I've made, but here goes: Jeep tires in the 16" size are very limited - FACT! Load range 'E' tires are much stiffer than a load range 'C' tire - FACT! Jeeps ride smoother on load range 'C' tires - FACT! Aired down load range 'C' tires perform...

    First Jeep, a 2004 LJ

The only issue you could ever have is they are much stiffer than a load range 'C' tire, and on our light TJ ride much harsher than a load range 'C' tire would. In your scenario a load range 'C' tire would perform better in the sand because they would air down better.

    Will a non-vented tailgate from a 97 TJ fit my 04 TJ?

If you're moving to a soft top like you said it won't make any difference.

    Will a non-vented tailgate from a 97 TJ fit my 04 TJ?

Do you run a hard top or a soft top? A soft top will have no issues, a hard top will as stated above.

New fan clutch with shorter threaded portion has fan hitting pulleys

Don't bend the blades, that will affect the balance and efficiency of the fan. I don't see why you couldn't place a washer on each bolt in an emergency situation, but I would get the correct clutch. Is the new clutch a Hayden?

Stay far away from 16" wheels, the tire choices are abysmal.

    First Jeep, a 2004 LJ

If it were mine and I was on a budget and using it like you will be, I would either do a 2" spacer lift or a 1.25" body lift and add some Rancho 5000X shocks then put some 31X10.5 tires on it. I would leave everything else the way it is and go. Edit: I would replace all those tube bumpers as...

Rancho shocks for 2-2.5 inch lift?

Install the 0-2" then let them settle. Take some measurements and see if they are near 50/50 at ride height, if then you think the others would be better, call Rancho and swap them out under their 90 day no questions asked return policy.
