    Headlight switch sweet spot issue

This usually happens when the headlamp fuse has failed. The marker lights still work as they have a different power supply. As the contacts in the switch slide, the headlamp contact briefly contacts the marker lamp feed which is why the headlamps only come on as that point is passed. The...

Source for RHD parts and kits?

For steering linkage I use Crown/RT Offroad HD linkage and track bar. For steering stabiliser the standard size like Monroe do should be used as HD stabilsers will get dented by the linkage. I've had a nissens rad in my 97 for 13 years and over 100k miles. Nissens are an OEM manufacturer so the...

    Fender turn signal fasteners

Edited. If you are looking for screws for the front marker/turn signal lamps, they are listed in the parts lists as 0.164 inch 18 tpi. Which is a #8 thread.

    HVAC box acting strange

You may have a snapped arm controlling one of the doors inside the hvac. The arms are moved by the three vacuum solenoids on the drivers side under the dash. You need to be something of a contortionist to be able to actually see them. Even more so if you want to get an arm up there to have a...

All 8s in the odometer display means there is an internal cluster fault.

    Blower nightmare

The RHD blower motor is an exact mirror of the early LHD blower motors. Right down to the direction the fan vanes are angled. I bought one from eBay UK when I need one. Wasn't much money. Don't know if there'd be any sellers willing to ship out of the UK but might be worth a look.

Is this a parasitic battery drain?

5.6mA is fine. I think the FSMs say Ignition off drain can be up to 34mA.

Brakes and Steering - 1997 TJ

How's the adjustment on the rear brakes? If the adjuster isn't set right there will be more travel in the rear shoes, and brake pedal, before you get effective braking.

    Engine ID / number (2006 2.4)

Looks good. Good look with the inspection. If it passes I think I'd probably apply some clearcoat over the number to help preserve it.

    Blower motor question

Black is directly connected to ground. Dark green is positive. If checking for voltage at the wires with ignition on, if the motor is unplugged you would see 12V with a multi-meter, but with the motor connected the voltage would vary depending what speed setting the controls were set at.

    RHD steering

I'm using the Crown/RT Offroad HD steering linkage (RT21006) on my RHD TJ shipped from the USA to UK.

    Engine ID / number (2006 2.4)

That looks like a part number lots of Jeep parts numbers begin 5301. I can't find it in an online search but it might be in the parts lists I have on my laptop at home. Ignore that, the last pic has just loaded on my phone. That does indeed look like the last 8 of a VIN.

    Engine ID / number (2006 2.4)

As I stated in post #12 this is just a build date code. Not an engine number. There could be hundreds of engines with the same build date code on. The VIN is marked on the early TJs too.

    Horn won’t stop

The horn pad in the steering wheel airbag cover has probably gone bad. The switch pad isn't available seperately and you won't often find just the cover available, so you may have to buy a used airbag to get a replacement. I think there was somebody who did some kind or repair to theirs. I...

    No ground to steering column

I assumed the wire in the steering column the OP mentioned was the one coming out of the clockspring.

    Bad engine: replacement options?

I had a piston skirt break at around 192k miles, and must have driven around 40 miles with the engine knocking like hell before I got it to work where I was going to start looking at it. I got my parts from rockauto, bought the few tools I didn't already have, and was back on the road after...

    No ground to steering column

There is no wire for ground. The FSM states to check the continuity between the metal steering column jacket and a good ground. If there is no continuity the steering column mounting nuts should be checked for proper installation.

    Engine ID / number (2006 2.4)

If 04 up have the last 8 digits of the VIN as does my 97 I think it's a fair bet that what should be there on yours would be the last 8 digits. If it was marked like on my 97, the number kind of looks like the output from an old dot matrix printer. I can imagine it wouldn't need anything much...

What is the official design speed for a TJ?

My 97 Dana 44 was also 3.07:1 stock. My tag went years ago, but my build sheet has DMMP 3.07 Axle Ratio, DRKS Dana 44/226MM Rear Axle, DSAP Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle We used to have a car price book available monthly in the UK that would have indiations of price ranges used cars should...

    Engine ID / number (2006 2.4)

This is from the FSM. Showing where the engine identification number is located on the 2.4L engines. As an aside, since the 4.0 and 2.5 engine codes in the form 111MX11 have been mentioned... These codes are not an engine ID number but a build date code. Mine as an example is 612MX30. The...
