    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

The OEM lockers could last you another decade, so no need to rush and replace them. The only way to check the front for damage is to pull it out, disassemble it, and check the spider gears for hairline fractures or chips. I had mine break while wheeling, and kept on going, didn't do any damage.

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

Who knows when your Rubicon lockers will go out, but they likely will eventually if you wheel hard. Mine broke 3 years apart from each other, and that's a lot of tough wheeling trips on 35's in those three years! When you see a good deal for a locker, pick it up so swap it out when you have...

Return to Sender? Possible Head Gasket Leak in New TJ

You bought 22 year old used Jeep with 160K miles, some TLC is expected.. A head gasket is an easy fix: take care of it and enjoy your Jeep with the peace of mind that you've gone through it.

    4.0 Dyno Comparisons: Newcomer Racing

Yeah the baseline numbers he's putting down with the 4.6L stroker are pretty awesome! I wish they were able to show the torque curve at a lower RPM. If the area under the TQ curve is up 24% in lower RPM, that's HUGE ! The cost of bolt-on's for the 4.0 and the gains we're seeing just don't seem...

    4.0 Dyno Comparisons: Newcomer Racing

New video featuring Newcomer Racing. To me, this proves the 4.0 isn't worth the money for bolts on's: either go with boost, or LS swap lol

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

Yeah the site is frustrating to use, I stopped using the forum when I discovered this site!

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

My bad Blaine. Yes, after taking it apart I would never put one back in!!

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

I never swapped my rear with a front: Broke rear and replaced with Detroit. Broke my front, and now shopping for a replacement selectable. From my experience I don't recommend anyone replacing a broken Rubi locker with another Rubi locker lol Aftermarket options have much better track records.

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

I'm actually not interested in the cable actuator: I want to press a button and be locked. The appeal for me is there are no internal rotating seals like an ARB or Zip , when those fail you have to pull the locker to replace. The Ox is a simple actuator and if it needs to be serviced you just...

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

Everyone I wheel with runs ARB or OX: both have been bulletproof

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

I know about the original engagement issues on OX, but in the past decade they've been bullet proof. What failures have you seen on the trails with them?

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

You've gotten your money's worth out of them at this point! You're not worried about shock loading the E Locker when backing up on an obstacle and going back forward?

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

Thanks for looking into it Jerry! I'm going to most likely go with an OX locker in the front with air actuator. I really like the actuator design and the whole thing can be serviced with just removing the diff cover, as well as the trail tool that can lock the locker if you have compressor...

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

I'm running 35's on my TJ. The front Rubi locker only having 2 spider gears compared to 4 on all other aftermarket selectable lockers is the obvious weak link. I'm certainly not going to replace with another Rubi locker. I was rock crawling on 4 fingers at Hot springs ORV, wasn't doing anything...

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

I don't blame you, it's getting harder and harder to keep these things going Well it looks like I'm going to have two complete Rubicon lockers (broken), 2 actuators, spare locker parts, and a fresh pump from Rubicon Resurrection for sale or trade if you need them.

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

I haven't looked into these much, as I don't know anyone running them. At a glance, it looks like a pretty simple design:

    Rubicon Locker Spider Gears

Finally blew up my front Rubi locker at Hot Springs ORV last weekend, and pulled it out tonight to inspect the damage: spider gears have broken teeth! From some searching I see others have done this and you can't get the gears anymore. Curious if anyone has any laying around? Or if anyone has...
