Bull Dawg LJ Hardtop Initial Impressions

I plan to post another update soon but I’ve since moved to Fairbanks, AK and have been putting the top through -30F weather lately. Getting to see how it holds up in the 2 temperature extremes

Bull Dawg LJ Hardtop Initial Impressions

If you’re running a spare, yes, its a bit of a pain to close in the correct order. But I now use the side windows 90% of the time and only use the back for larger objects.

Modifications and advice for extreme cold

I still need to resolve my ticking issue. The jeep was in a garage while being winterized so I hoped that the noise would not be present when I left temporarily. Alas, it was still present. Debating on switching to a thinner weight fluid (believe I put Amsoil Synchromesh in last time) or just...

Modifications and advice for extreme cold

Made some progress on winterizing the Jeep today and wanted to share since the information is scarce, at least when compared to which oil to use. Installed: ABN Oil Pan heater ($20, Amazon) someone more experienced that helped me stated that this was overkill at 150 Watts🤷‍♂️ but would be fine...

Modifications and advice for extreme cold

Well the Jeep made it to Fairbanks and is already getting its butt whooped by the Alaska cold. And it's pretty warm this week around 0° F and above (compared to last weeks -40s). I picked the Jeep up today and it was stored inside overnight prior to me picking it up. No issues leaving the...

    Legitimate online Mopar parts sellers

I have used WeRMopar in the past. Decent price but shipping stinks.

Modifications and advice for extreme cold

Planning to re-gear and add selectable lockers front and rear in the near future. I am leaning towards installing ARB Air lockers, vs Eaton E-Lockers at the moment. Does the cold up there have any adverse effects on air compressors or air lines? I've knocked a few of items off the to-do list...

I’m happy with the purchase. I use the pop up windows on a daily basis to load the kid and random junk. Pretty handy.

Intermittent stumbling and stalling at idle. Running out of ideas.

I'm at a loss of where to go next. Hoping someone on here can help out so I don't have to let some stranger's booger hooks touch my Jeep. Hopefully I've overlooked something simple and you guys can slap me and help me realize my expensive mistake. On the bright side, all these new parts are...

In search of 05-06 throttle body and IAC

I’ve been chasing this stalling issue for a while now. Ive repaired 2x small vacuum leaks, still need to replace the “L” fitting that comes off the intake. Yes, I have cleaned to IAC and TB. Also, I do plan to replace the IAC since the o-ring is damaged and I keep running into more and more...

In search of 05-06 throttle body and IAC

Ive seen quite a few posts stating tgat is normal, but I have a hard time believing that it’s normal/nominal to have air bypass the air filter and be sucking in at the valve. I’ve already checked wermopar. No luck there, unfortunately.

In search of 05-06 throttle body and IAC

I ran a smoke test and found my throttle body to be leaking from the seals around the rod that connects to the butterfly valve and the IAC. I believe this is the culprit behind my intermittent stalling while at idle. 1. looking for OEM 2005-06 throttle body (5161510AA). I have been unsuccessful...

Modifications and advice for extreme cold

Is there a preferred battery for life in Alaska? Everything Ive found recommends ACDelco, Odyssey and Optima. I know I’ve seen some negative reviews on Optimas lately.

Modifications and advice for extreme cold

I am moving to Fairbanks AK this winter and looking for advice on modifications to help the old gal survive Alaska temps. I figure I need an oil pan heater and battery heater (looking for recommendations on brands). Currently looking into getting remote start (no experience with adding to a...

Bull Dawg LJ Hardtop Initial Impressions

I have no experience with any other brand of hardtop. Only ever had a ratty soft top that was falling apart. Almost a year later, Im still happy with my purchase. The side opening windows are great for accessing the back and it functions and looks the exact same as day one. A slight rattle has...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Finally replaced the piece of garden hose and hose clamps keeping my engine running. My vacuum line from the manifold to the rear CCV cracked a while back. Found a replacement (Part # 53013797AB) on amazon for $11 vs dealerships $70. She's classy now(y).

Bull Dawg LJ Hardtop Initial Impressions

Update on the top: Bulldawg mailed some replacement 30lb struts vs the original 40lb struts for the side windows. This remedied the issue with the brackets bending. The defroster has also stopped working. I am pretty sure it’s just a loose wire as it was working intermittently on bumpy gravel...
