Has anyone installed a pre-2003 fuel tank into a 2003 or newer TJ?

Hi James, I'm guessing the original poster has solved their issue. I'm checking with my local Jeep mechanic and have a few options on eBay as well. My fuel pump is not very old so I'm going to try to track down a 2003 tank first. I'm not sure what shipping from TX would cost either. Thanks...

Has anyone installed a pre-2003 fuel tank into a 2003 or newer TJ?

Did you have any success? My filler neck on my 2003 TJ fuel tank broke off and I am not having any luck finding that part by itself anywhere. I attached an example pic of what I'm looking for and the one with the broken plastic neck.

    TJ Fest 2021 - Moab (April 24 – May 1, 2021)

There's a good possibility that I'll be there.

I have a chance to buy a used PCM for $150 for my TJ, should I do it for backup?

My '03 X (manual, 4.0L) ran into an engine issue recently and in the process of troubleshooting, my mechanic has sourced a PCM from a junkyard that works on mine. It turned out to be a wiring issue (shorting out) and not a PCM issue. However, I can buy this PCM for $150 from the mechanic (Auburn...

What type of communication radio is best?

On a somewhat related note, anyone here use GoTenna devices for mesh text communications? https://gotenna.com/

What type of communication radio is best?

Are many using FRS/GMRS? I installed a Midland Micromobile MXT115 in my vehicle. I haven't connected with many local clubs yet and liked the idea of being able to use it with some handhelds I already had. Now I'm wondering if I'll need to at least add a CB.

    2006 Jeep Green Rubicon - 64k miles $16k - Washington

There's some big evergreens in the background that line up with our area. We have a few people that like to plant palm trees around here even if they don't really fit in.

Broken Valve Cover Bolt on 2003 4.0L

Ha, that's the exact set I already have. Unfortunately the reverse drill bits aren't pulling it out and the head of my drill is rubbing on the top of the valve or the AC lines. Also because of those components, it's making it challenging to get the shorter extractor bits into place. I'm a bit...

Broken Valve Cover Bolt on 2003 4.0L

Ya, removing the lines seems like a bad idea. Worst case, I'll get it to my mechanic if I can't get the bolt out.

Broken Valve Cover Bolt on 2003 4.0L

Will do. I've doused it in PB Blaster. I'll try the torch option next. Thanks!

Broken Valve Cover Bolt on 2003 4.0L

I have removed the valve cover, cleaned up both sides, and am ready to put it all back together. With the valve cover off it is still a bit of a tight fit to use the extractor tools between the valve and the A/C lines.

Broken Valve Cover Bolt on 2003 4.0L

I was replacing my valve cover gasket today when I found out that it already had a broken bolt. The head was stripped off nearly flush with the surface. It's bolt in the front, closest to the radiator. This is likely one of the causes of the leak I've had. I've already tried left threaded drill...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Last weekend I pulled off the old nasty soft top and pulled up all the mildew smelling black carpet. Found about $2 in corroded coins under the carpet! Scrubbed out the tub completely during the week and installed Bedtred front to back last night. Just need to put on the tailgate piece. Working...

    PNWBrian's 2003 Jeep Wrangler X

I'll check it out. I also saw another recommendation for Auburn Car Repair and Off road. Their yelp reviews looked good and they are close. But it's good to have options.

    PNWBrian's 2003 Jeep Wrangler X

Definately. I need to get it to a shop for a thorough once over, though it's been doing OK so far. I'm also a newbie to offroading, so I need a good starter ride.

    PNWBrian's 2003 Jeep Wrangler X

The Jeep made it here in 27 hours from the time it was picked up. We've been enjoying it and cleaning it up a bit. Now if FedEx would find my missing shipment that has my title and the keys to the glove box and lock box... The stereo face, current registration, and key to the spare tire are in...

    PNWBrian's 2003 Jeep Wrangler X

And the Jeep is on its way! Should be here for the weekend. Just hoping the basket on that lift doesn't hit it while in transit.

Any recommendations for an auto-transport company in the US for my new 2003 TJ?

And the Jeep is on its way! Let's just hope the chain on that lift arm keeps it from bouncing and whacking the jeep while in transit. It's all insured at least. Estimated to arrive by Saturday.
