NV3550 shifting problems (grinding in second and third gear)

I waited a couple of weeks after changing the fluid in the trans. I drained out the Purple Synchromesh and put in the MTL Fluid. I gave it a couple of weeks to break in and have to say it definitely helped with the shifting. I also checked the clutch fluid, it was ok. I know it's a band aid and...

NV3550 shifting problems (grinding in second and third gear)

Good morning everyone. I've been having trouble with grinding of the gears going into second and third. It's much worse if I'm revving up the rpm's accelerating fast. If I take my time shifting and accelerating easy, it's not too bad. I have a 2002 Wrangler with the 4.0L and 5 speed NV 3550...

Thoughts on OTC u-joint / ball joint tool vs Harbor Freight vs rental

I personally own the OTC kit. I have never had a problem with it. I do u-joints with it as well as ball joints. I use my impact with it and have never been afraid of it breaking. In tools, you get what you pay for! If you own a Jeep, you'll be working in it,so you may as well get a good one that...

What did you do to your TJ today?

I use Meguire's wipes on them. Seems to work real well. I use them on my F-150's tonneau cover. Keeps it clean and shiny.

Check Engine Light on with codes P0442 and p0455

Ok everyone, can't get rid of these codes. I've tried the ole gas cap and that didn't help. I'm leaning towards the fuel filler neck and both hoses going to the fuel tank. The neck looks pretty rusty, and the hoses don't look the greatest. Without having a smoke machine, I'm truly guessing here...

What did you do to your TJ today?

I had to give mine a good bath, then waxed it completely. I work at a steel mill and the dust gets all over it. if don't keep in some what clean it will embed into the paint. Also replaced the front bumper and am getting ready to replace the rear bumper. Still need to get a winch for the front...

Welcome! You've made the best choice off the bat. These people on this will help you out as much as possible. I, myself have an 02 Wrangler with the 4.0l, 5 speed, and soft top. I love it and its my convertible in the summer. Not too bad in the winter either with the soft top.

Check engine light on code P0455 large evap leak

Ok Jeepers, I've got another question. My check engine light came on with a code P0455 large evap leak. I've got a new gas cap on order but am doubting that's my problem, no big cracks in the rubber gasket. Has anyone had this issue on their TJ??? Thanks in advance

How do I turn off the dome lights with the doors removed?

Update on dome lamps. Wound up being the drivers door ajar switch not being pushed in all the way by the door. Simple fix, vacuum plug over the plunger.

Well I'm replacing the taillight protectors and mirrors. They are already in the garage. Thinking need to improve the headlights for off road use.

How do I turn off the dome lights with the doors removed?

I've got a question about this matter. When I reinstall the fuse the dome lamps stay on. Is there a long delay before they go off? Just bought this 2002 Wrangler, and noticed the dome lamps didn't work with the doors open so did some looking and noticed the #4 fuse had been pulled. So put fuse...
