Lube Locker gaskets: Great differential and transmission gaskets

I got a lube locker 42RLE trans pan gasket and installed it. It fits great, no leaks and I was able to put the Jeep immediately back in service.

New front bumper and new CB. Plus trans fluid and filter change- which led to a new trans pan since the old one was warped. Also flushed the brake fluid and an oil change. Its running like new and looks exactly like I want.

Professionals: rear passenger shock hole too big. What would you do?

I'd use 1/4" stock and a mobile welder should be able to do it with no problem.

How to replace a pinion seal on your TJ

The "right" way would be to drain the fluid, pull the wheels, pull the brakes, remove the carrier, remove the pinion, replace the crush sleeve and rebuild the whole thing to factory specs. That takes 4-5 hours for a pro and a busload of specialized tools to do correctly. An amateur will likely...

Professionals: rear passenger shock hole too big. What would you do?

You are either going to need to cut off the old bolt and weld in a patch plate, or sandwich plates on each side. The shock is pulling against that area every time you go over a bump- so the shock will start to clunk and then eventually get damaged. I can't believe that a reputable shop would...

How do you drive on pavement?

Jeep is mostly for off road or around town. 70mph is pretty much as fast as I go, but I like to accelerate quickly. I have several other vehicles that do MUCH better on the highway. I admit, if the Jeep is going more than 2 hours from home- is is on a trailer behind my Ram 2500.

    VegasOPM’s 2006 Jeep Wrangler X

Hard to take pictures of gears, but I upgraded from 3.73 to 4.56 and I couldn't be happier. I am running 33's and the 3.73's were horrible- no power on the highway, downshifts took forever. Now it is a whole new rig!

    VegasOPM’s 2006 Jeep Wrangler X

The 8" powered sub was okay, but I really like thump... so a 12" Kicker Box and a Rockford Fosgate amp took its place. Those were sitting on the shelf from a previous project car- so no real expense. The powered sub will go into the crawler I think.

Before and After. Amazing what $140 for Neoprene seat covers and 1 hour of time can do for the interior of the Jeep.

New spark plugs make a big difference!

I picked up an '06 TJ X Model a few months back. It ran fine, but seemed incredibly flat under acceleration. I wrote it off to 33" tires and 3.73 gears (which will be addressed soon). Since it had 106K on the clock, and I had no maintenance history- I'm going through the whole rig. New...

Can I run half doors with a hardtop?

I honestly don't know. They were on there when I bought it but I like them.

Can I run half doors with a hardtop?

Not really, I use a soft brush and soapy water.

Can I run half doors with a hardtop?

I only have half doors and a hardtop. They work fine, just avoid the car wash....

    Improving fuel economy

You will spend much more chasing mileage than going out and buying a used Hyundai Accent and using it for your daily. You can practice hypermiling- which will get you up to 20mpg, but if you drive a JEEP, I imagine you won't like it. There is no "magic bullet". We can get our 200 TDI...

    Suspension feels extremely loose

Sounds like the PO put in a lift and didn't upgrade the shocks to match. Easy answer, put in the correct length shocks. You should also check all of the other suspension components to make sure that nothing is worn or missing. Jeeps tend to get used hard, have short wheelbases, oversized...

    VegasOPM’s 2006 Jeep Wrangler X

Quick upgrade this morning of new speakers. I bought new 4x6" and 5.25" Kicker speakers from Crutchfield and dropped them in. I was shocked at how easy and quick it was. 30 minutes start to end and sound has improved dramatically. I have a new head unit on the way and a powered, low profile...
