Kanati Mud Hog or Patagonia tires?

'04 Rubi, 5 speed. Been in hibernating over winter, avoiding the salt. Can't wait to get my build going... After a lot of research, I'm liking either the Patagonia MT or Kanati Mud Hog. The Moab rims don't have enough BS so I'm going with 17" rims and 295/70/17 tires (33.5"). I like the...

    Kicker sub replacement

For an ‘04 factory center console replacement. Trying to figure out if I want this 2 ohm version or the 1 ohm. In the QnA the seller says TJs should get 1 ohm, but reading others saying differently. they probably will both, I'm sticking with the factory amp for now. Too much other stuff on...

    Crazy prices?

I’ve seen this place have nice stuff in the past, it ain’t cheap though. This price is insane. Besides lowest mileage on a TJ, How is this only 1 of 38 made...

    Normal engine temp?

I’ve had other TJs and they’d run right at 210. Wondering if this is within normal range. I got this TJ earlier this year. Very low miles. Took into a shop had some electrical issues fixed. Also had the system flushed, t- stat changed, they said they used a Stant 195. My heater works pretty...

    Insane, anyone try this?

Not ashamed, I don’t think I could do that, up or down! Lol...I seen a bunch of videos and usually a 4 door, long Jeep doing steep climbs. Can a short wheelbase two door do this without tipping? I couldn’t find any videos of two doors making it up those steep angles.

    Replacing factory subwoofer

I see Quadratec has an exact replacement speaker. Has mixed reviews some people say it blows out relatively quickly just like the original . Doing some research there’s a Kicker available. I don’t mind doing a slight modification just want to make sure it will work with the factory wiring and...

    Nitto tire question

Wanting new rims and tires for an ‘04 Rubi. I settled on Nitto Ridge Grapplers. 285/75/17. According to the website, they come in C load and weigh 65.1lbs. Same size comes in E load and weighs 64.4 lbs. same on dealer sites like below... Am I missing something or could it be a typo? c should be...

A good alternative to washers on bump stops?

Anyone use these? https://www.extremeterrain.com/coyote-1-2-wheel-spacers-8719-jeep.html More like a shim than a regular spacer, still using original studs. I like my Moab rims, this would eliminate rubbing and also I like that it’d push the tires out a bit, and they’re cheap!

Wanting some real 33 inch tires

Thanks to this awesome forum, I snagged a nice '04 Rubi back in winter. It has Falken 285's, which are often called 33"s, but listed actual size is less. The real size under the Jeep's load is 31.5" or so... with 37 psi. Also have a JK with KO2s in same size, and it's the same thing, quite...

Cruise control not working on 2004 TJ Rubicon

Light comes on, but when I hit "set" the and gas pedal seized up and the speed dropped abruptly. Kinda scary at 80 mph on the freeway. It hit it off, and everything went normal. I did a search and there's a million things that affect the cc. Hopefully someone can help me narrow it down...

Decided to come back to a TJ from a JK

My '18 Willys JK is bought and paid for... All along I still missed my old Rubi. I found a nice TJR I'll be buying soon. A few people thought I was nuts because I'm losing great V6 and comfortable, bigger JK. But I actually like the TJ size. It's true the 3.6L has a lot of HP but it's also...

Looking for another TJ: Any years to avoid automatic transmission and OPDA issues?

Always owned manuals, and still prefer one, but if a nice auto comes up I won't mind. I recall reading something about the '05's having an issue with the auto. But I could be wrong. Also, my '06 TJR never gave me an issue with the OPDA, I see lots of '05s and '06s going strong with nearly...

    TJ or LJ?

Been wanting a TJ again.. owned three, then got an '18 JK. Like it, but never fell in love with it like my TJs. So was thinking of finding a clean LJ. I found a dealer here in Ohio that hunts down clean, non rusted TJ/LJs from salt free states. So that got me thinking of getting one again...

TJ, fighting the rust battle or go with a JK?

Have a 2006 Rubicon, only 33K miles. Few years back, had the driver's side fender replaced and painted, due to rust bubbling, it looks good as new. Now the passenger side is doing it, a few other spots all around showing up as well. The door hinges, bumpers, panel seams. The usual spots I...

    My great mod...floor liners.

Got the Quadratecs and I think they look great. The rear liners are nice as they are like a tray that fits right into the little foot area. I wish the fronts were like that. They don't cover as much as I'd like. I need them for all the nasty snow/salt in winter. A lot of the carpet has salt...

    Cool, new tire coming...

I like the looks of this, a bit of an ST Maxx look to the tread. http://falkentire.com/community/blog/2015/09/all-new-falken-wildpeak/t3w-engineered-adventure-anytime-0 Kinda going to the more aggressive inbetween AT/MT like the Duratrac and KO2. I like it. Also have a new MT coming.

C vs. E loads and the BS (not back spacing!).

Here's a good direct comparison I just got done with. For weeks I searched and asked on this stuff and couldn't find much out, So I finally got to satisfy my curiosity thanks to DT (the best shop!!). My TJR has 16" wheels and recently got a set of BFG KO2s 265/75. A lot of jeep guys were...

Help with some wheel dimensions please?

I have stock moabs 16x8 and they have 5" BS. The wheels I was wanting were 17x9 with 4.5" BS. Comparing similar sized tires, how much would the 2nd example move the tire/wheel outwards? I was thinking 1" (.5" less BS, + half of the wheel's increased diameter) further out. So 1" but a DT rep...

    Interesting JP tire comparison

When I was searching for info on tires over the last few weeks, http://www.fourwheeler.com/how-to/wheels-tires/154-1110-power-and-performance-from-weight-loss/ was one of the articles I found. Thought I'd share it as I found it really interesting to what we like and talk about. It's pretty...
