Jeep shuts down at interstate speeds

Jeep shuts down at speeds about 60+ mph, after about a half mile. Will run all day idling in the garage and at speeds up to 45 or so. Changed crank and cam sensors with mopar ones, as well as a new battery (needed it anyway). Mechanic is leaning toward PCM. Does that line of thinking track...

Any newish metal bands worth checking out? Maybe some on the horizon to look out for? Bonus points for any group with a bad ass drummer.

Do these symptoms match my EVAP codes?

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out if p0442 and p0456 will cause some of the symptoms I'm having. For reference it's an 02 4.0. Jeep starts perfect in the morning, but will sometimes take longer to crank throughout the day. The fuel pump has been replaced twice due to loss of pressure in the...

    Kid's Jeep bed

Has anyone made one? My dad and I are looking at making one for my brothers little potato head coming in April. At the pace we're able to get things done, it should be ready by the time he's 5. How far would you go in terms if detail? Working lights and flashers? Working wiper nozzle to irk...

    Front speaker adjustment bezel

The front speakers in our TJs are pointed down and toward the door. I did some Googling and saw some adjustment brackets that I believe change the angle of the speaker, think the items were on Ebay. Has anyone tried them? I know our TJs arent great on audio for a variety of reasons, but this...

NV3550 hard to shift out of 1st and 2nd gear

My shifter is hard to get out of 1st and 2nd gear after the Jeep has been running for a while. Like its stuck on the first attempt, then I let it go and try again. Second attempt usually works. I brought it to a transmission guy, he rebuilt it, and said all was good. Which it was, until a few...

Making sure it's the fuel pump

2002 X 4.0 I have the long crank. Before I get a new fuel pump assembly and go through the potential headache, I'd like to verify that it is actually the pump. I have tried turning the key on and off several times to prime the pump (is it primed when the gas guage kicks on?) then start it. It...

    Heat shielding on battery cables

I just replaced the original battery cables with the ones from custombatterycables.com. Do I need the black plastic wrap from the old cables, or is the rubber-type covering on the new cables sufficient?

    General manual transmission question

If shifting problems occur only when the vehicle has been running for a while, is it possible to eliminate mechanical issues (ie, focus on fluids and leaks)?

    Understanding amplifiers

Four speakers in the vehicle, all rated to handle 100 watts rms. If my head unit puts out 25x4 rms, and there's a 75x4 amplifier, I understand the more power aspect. However, if my head unit is 75x4 rms, is there any benefit to having the amp power the speakers as opposed to the head unit?

    Troubleshooting long cranks

02, 4.0, NV3550 I mention the transmission because I'm also having trouble getting the shifter out of gear. Can a clutch issue lead to long crank and shifting problems? Now the crank specifics: Every morning when I get going to work, no problems starting. The rest of the day the starter will...

Recommended brand for clutch master / slave replacement

In my ongoing shifting saga, I took a look at the clutch fluid. Pretty nasty. Still has the DOT 3 fluid density, but theres a lot of funk in there. Thinking this will be my project next weekend, so ordering the parts this week. Is there a brand that's recommended? Thanks

    Kerosene transmission flush

    Driving music

Hopefully this can be a "no one gets ribbed too hard" thread. Although, if Justin Bieber is your thing, expect some ribbing. What are your tunes of choice when in the TJ/ LJ? I'm not normally a big country music listener, but I tell you, theres something about Kenney Chesney and the top down...

    Recommended starter

Well, I've tried 2 mopar websites and the dealership - no starters to be found, they're on backorder with bo ETA. Napa can only get remanned starters. Any suggestions on where to get a decent one from? Thanks for the help!

    Ruling out the fuel pump

My understanding of fuel pump related starting issues, specifically the valve, is that the longer the Jeep sits, the more time fuel has to run back into the gas tank. With intermittent starting trouble that does not always correspond to time between runs, is it safe to rule out the valve in the...

    Aluminum wheel care

My TJ has the American Racing Baja wheels. My Google-Fu showed them to be aluminum. What do wonderful folks do to both deep clean and maintain them? I have the aluminum brightener from Napa and that worked well, but some crud just doesnt want to come off. I can leave the brightener on...

Interior and exterior color opinions wanted

I'm sure the original flare color was black, but (oddly) I'm liking the faded gray. I'm looking for your thoughts: paint gray or black? I'll also be repainting the interior as well. Most of it will be the stock dark gray, but if I go gray flares, I might add small color accents in the interior...
