    Air filter screen

Did some routine servicing today, found air cleaner box (inlet side under the filter) half full of acorn hulls. CHIPMUNKS, ARG!!! It is a standard air box for a 1998 TJ 2.5L. Do you think there would be any harm in making a screen of 1/4" screen/hardware cloth to put over the inlet horn of the...

    Military trailer in MT

I saw this on Craigslist in MT Dec. 2, 2021 https://helena.craigslist.org/tro/d/livingston-1968-johnson-corp-m101-1/7415268162.html Not mine, know only what you read about it. Posted here just FYI

    Stupid cold weather

Has been super cold this week. Has not been above zero for a week. Have had morning lows generally -35 to -42. Subaru Forester quit working Friday, had it towed to shop. 2015 Silverado stopped shifting Saturday, has appointment at shop next week. Down to my third rig, the TJ. It has been...

    Another Red Line MT-90 convert

When I got my jeep, one of the first things I did was replace all the fluids. I do not recall the brand of transmission oil I used, but remember researching it for the correct type. It always shifted hard between a forward gear and reverse, often causing me to run it through a few forward gears...

    3 codes today

I have only owned the jeep a little over a year, and today was first check engine light that I have had. I did not know until I looked on this site that the jeep itself will I guess give you the codes by turning the switch on/off 3 - 4 times in a few seconds? I did not try this. I had a FIXD...

    Tire and lift poll

I think it would be interesting to have a 2D poll where the vertical axis was lift from 0" to 5"? In half inch increments and the horizontal axis was tire sizes from stock to 35", 37"? Then we could all somehow vote on where we intersect. But alas, I do not know how to design such a poll...

    Unlifted

Bought my TJ last February with 2" budget boost, 1.25" wheel spacers and Nankang N889 Mudstar M/T tires size 32x11.5x15 stock Jeep 7"x15"rims. Brand new spare was actually 30&15/16" diameter, section width of 10.6" and tread face 8&7/8". I knew from the get go I would be moving it back toward...

    Wheel spacer torque

Project of the week was new front torsion bar frame bushings and links. (To I hope eliminate a front end noise I had over bumps.) First time I have had the wheels off (just bought the Jeep 2 months ago) and I saw why the 32x11.5 tires on stock rims did not rub. Wheel spacers 1.25". I see no...

    Air filter lid clip found

Found a perfect match for my 1998 TJ air filter box clip. I went to quirkparts on eBay, sold as a 14-19 Grand Cherokee Durango Air filter housing upper cover lip clip OEM Mopar $6.91 not counting tax.

    Bump stop spacing

My new to me Jeep came with 2" budget boost with 32x11.5x15 tires. Springs measure the standard 12" and 8". There are what seem to me to be very long hard rubber jounces (I think this is the term), which have maybe 2" of space to the contact points at bottom. With the budget boost spacers...

    Tiny plastic tailgate lock part

Took a look inside the tailgate lock this morning. The lift rod from lock cylinder is unhooked due to broken tiny plastic part. It is like the one I am pointing at, but at the top of that rod. What is it called, or any ideas where to get some?

No catalytic convertor and poor fuel economy

I have already read 2 or 3 times the official O2 thread and others dealing with these sensors. I just bought this Jeep in February, the kid who had it previous for only a few months and knew no history on it. One of the 7 previous owners removed the catalytic converter, the exhaust pipe where it...
