Has your exhaust manifold cracked yet? Here is a fix

I have a rear locker, but the rear is full of amp and bass. Not even room for a seat! The suspension, the tires, the gear ratio and the torque. It was built to pull the front wheels. If it didn't, something would have to break. Wanna know what's keeping me from submitting a video or pic...

Has your exhaust manifold cracked yet? Here is a fix

Working on the video, and I would guess by doing the total lift myself. The heavy coil springs all the way around likely had a lot to do with it. Then there is the slip yoke eliminator, the telescoping driveshafts, 4.88 gears, 315x18x12 tires, 2 1/2" totally non restrictive exhaust., the 68 mm...

Has your exhaust manifold cracked yet? Here is a fix

I agree, but I can drop the clutch at 3,000 rpm and pull the front wheels. If that doesn't crack or break something, what will? I'm not trying to be a smart ass or a braggart, and my suspension is only about 2 inches up and down. But the bottom line is, I'm not cracking headers anymore. There is...

Has your exhaust manifold cracked yet? Here is a fix

I'm sure that works just fine. I'm talking about a header like this, that has no flex.

Has your exhaust manifold cracked yet? Here is a fix

If you put a section of flex pipe where the ehaust pipe goes past the oil pan the engine and header can flex together. I'm generating 325 ft lbs of torque on the dyno and my competition header isn't cracking.

South Carolina NC & SC Thread

Give credit where it's due, right at 300 hp on the dyno I had no choice, now heat is no issue. One more thing I am very pleased with, performance, price, quick turnaround. 5,200 RPM limit is the only restriction. Nothing else matters. Highway? We don't need no stinkin' highway!

South Carolina NC & SC Thread

I'm in Rock Hill, SC and I've been watching for Jeep shows or just get togethers to compare and trade stories for several years. The closest I've come has been a Chrysler show dominated by new Challengers. Road Runners, RTs, Daytonas and others did well but the Jeep just felt like an outlier. My...

97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ ECM / PCM Tuning Options

Straight through 2 1/2" exhaust, 68 mm TB, 26 psi injectors. No shift light, no codes, 5500 rpm rev limit. I highly recommend the guy Chris talked to, he did mine.

    Question about dual steering stabilizers

Thanks, I've been asking around if there is a Jeep club in this area. I could make it to Myrtle Beach. There is a show in Concord NC next Sunday I'm getting ready for. It's a breast cancer awareness show. Probably 200 cars

    Question about dual steering stabilizers

I guess you're going to tell me you don't paint the steering and suspension components, wash and wax the inside of the wheels and put tire dressing on the inside of the tires. You probably don't even keep it in the garage with a fitted car cover over it either. What in the world do you think a...

    Question about dual steering stabilizers

Jerry, I have to confess. My Jeep and I are both retired except for going back and forth to car shows or an occasional two lane ride on a beautiful day. The underneath really needs washed in that pic.

    Question about dual steering stabilizers

This works for me, but it's just one double shock. Smooth sailing up to 95 mph with no handling issues. The coarse finish is not rust, for some reason I used hammered paint. I was probably socializing with Señor Cazadores at the time.

Non-computer controlled cam with reprogrammed computer

The engine was first rebuilt for performance by Titan and is actually a 4.7L. I don't want to go into all of the shortcuts subpar machining that caused the engine to be a big disappointment that only lasted about a month. Rather than pay to have the engine shipped back to Titan and have them...

    '98 TJ Exhaust: 2.5 cat on 4.0?

You say you have a cracked exhaust manifold. You can prevent that from happening again by having your exhaust guy put a piece of flex pipe where the exhaust runs parallel to the side of the oil pan on the driver's side.

    Exhaust Upgrade Help for 4.0

I agree, at around 300 HP at the flywheel 2 1/2" is fine. I just want it to be real. I don't know if it's a combination of parts used for the lift and keeping the original geometry and wheel base correct, but by pushing up and down on the bumpers you get very little movement. I can't complain...

Thank you, I appreciate your information. Restrictions was the wrong word. He rewrote the specs for what is now in it, it has no codes.

    Exhaust Upgrade Help for 4.0

I'm looking to go dual tailpipes from a Y coming out of the muffler in the stock position. With a 5" lift and only an inch or two travel in the suspension I can't imagine a local shop not being able to put a pair of 2" pipes through there with 3"flaired tips. Anyone tried it? 2" is small but two...

Non-computer controlled cam with reprogrammed computer

Here's an update, Chad Golen built me a head from and older model with a higher flow rate, ported with oversized Chrysler valves and I added Harland aluminum roller rockers. The cam is made by Comp Cams with a 5.06 lift and the pushrods are heavier. I added 26 lb. Bosch fuel injectors and a 68...

What RPM should my 4.0 be running at?

The 'sweet spot' for peak horsepower on my 99 TJ is between 5k - 6k rpm, but the red line is at 5,500 and I honor that. When I had the computer reprogrammed I wish I had set the rev limiter at 5,200 rpm instead of just removing it. Even a Golen Stroker will float the valves if you push it too...
