I running a Best Buy 42rle without issue.

Depends on your primary use. I have the trektop. With windows rolled up I have to turn the fan on 3 to stop it from flapping. It’s a third vehicle and I primarily run it in bikini mode. If I ran it with windows zipped in more than half the time I’d switch to the oem.

I have one of these best buy transmissions. It came with high quality atf+4. Dealing with them was easy and the transmission has been flawless to date.

That's when mine went out, and not locking up was one of many symptoms. Shuddering and burnt fluid might be next. Low fluid can be a culprit in case you haven't checked. 139k is not the lowest mileage at which one of these has burnt up but maybe a second opinion is worth the hassle.

Todd at aeroforcetech.com says his Interceptor SR gauge will access the 42rle temp but I haven't been willing to cough up the $250 to find out yet.

141k. Unknown if bad pcm or wear caused the trans to go, but I had to replace both shortly after purchase. A good shop can tell you if its working properly or about due.
