Are NTK / NGK O2 Sensors the same?

145,000 miles on a 2004 TJ and Check Engine Light comes on. Turn ign. key 3 times and get P0138 code. Am looking to replace all 4 O2 sensors based on the recommendations on this site. Some of the O2 sensors list NTK as the manufacturer and NGK as the brand on the spec. sheet. Here are the...

    Steering box bolt removal

I bought a steering box skid plate and am having a hard time removing the bottom bolt to install the skid. Squirted Kroil on the threads over several days. I first tried a socket wrench with no success. Tried an impact gun with no success. It is a hardened bolt but I don't want to risk snapping...

TJ appears to be holding back during acceleration

I have a 2004 TJ I6 with NV3500 manual trans., 4.56 gears, Detroit Tru Trac LSD rear, 33" tires. I seems like my TJ is being held back during acceleration, almost like it is governed for lack of a better description. My comparison is that my 1995 XJ I6 automatic trans. seemed to have more top...

    High pitched squeal

2004 TJ, I6 with 5 speed manual. When cold I get a high pitched squeal when I get to around 2500 rpms., all gears. Push in the clutch noise goes away or let up on throttle noise goes away. Once engine & trans. warmed up, no squeal. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Is a leaking pinion seal unusual?

I just had my 2004 TJ re-geared which included new axle seals, bearings, pinion seals & nuts, etc.. Broke the gears in properly and re-filled the diffs. with non synthetic fluid (Chevron Delo ESI 80W-90) since I had a Tru Trac LSD installed in the rear. Just the other day I noticed the rear...

    NV3500 shift characteristics

I have a 2004 TJ 5 speed manual with the NV3500 gear box. I bought it in March, 2019 and have only put 3,400 miles on it but driven it enough to get a feel for it's unique characteristics. Changed all the fluids when I first bought it and used Amsoil Synchromesh fluid for the trans.. Drove...

    NV3500 5-speed TJ shift points

I am curious to see what at how many RPMs others shift at. My 2004 TJ 5 speed has a NV3500 gear case. My tires are 33 X 12.5 X 15" with 4.56 gears. I usually shift up close to 3,000 RPMs and seem to only need 5th when on long highway stretches. What do others do with the same set up? Comments...

    Gladiator

Yesterday I stopped by the local Jeep dealer to look at several new Gladiators on the lot. It was Sunday so I did not have a sales person bore assing me to death. Gotta admit the Rubicon looked pretty good and had many appealing features. Anyone test drive or have opinions on the Gladiator?

    Cor Ten steel for frames

    Re-gear: Final questions before install

O.K., one last time for any input and for confirmation I am making the right decision. I have a 2004 TJ 4.0l, NV3550 5 speed trans. with 33" tires and 3.73 gears, Dana 44 rear, Dana 30 front. Shifting on the road is less than desirable, especially going up hills. This will see some off road...
