Brand new clutch slave cylinder came apart during the first minute

The clutch master/slave was LUK......at least that what I thought I bought. I'll have to check to see if it says LUK anywhere on it.

    Dana 35 Disaster After Rebuild

Yeah, because of your 6-speed's granny gear. Your first gear's ratio is 4 something

Thanks to all the TJ owners

The Jeep community, especially this forum has some of the nicest people I have ever met. Especially being from the UK, I can honestly say my TJ wouldn't be in running order if it hadn't been for these guys. Also, damn, NICE LJR. I really hope whoever buys it doesn't screw it up and leaves it as...

    Dana 35 Disaster After Rebuild

Wow, I have 3.07 gears with 31" tires and I HATE the way it drives. How did you manage 3.07 with 33"???

Brand new clutch slave cylinder came apart during the first minute

I really don't know what to say. I have been having some clutch issues with my 97 Jeep TJ for which people here suggested that I might need a new master/slave cylinder. (see thread below) Well, I buy one, go for the LUK one too, I install it according to instructions I found on the Extreme...

Clutch Pedal Makes Clicking / Popping Sound (With Video)

Yeah, they do. Let me see if I can attach them some other way. https://ibb.co/yYPHcGY https://ibb.co/xfCK3b8 https://ibb.co/Ry07VK6 https://ibb.co/BgFmrSH https://ibb.co/5YZXxG1

Clutch Pedal Makes Clicking / Popping Sound (With Video)

Right, so in the end I ended up ordering a new complete pre-bled Master/Slave Cylinder from Rock Auto but before I install it, I thought I'd use an inspection camera to have a look at the throw-out bearing because I remember hearing a squealing sound coming from the bell housing area when the...

Clutch Pedal Makes Clicking / Popping Sound (With Video)

Let's hope that in your case the cause is benign and unrelated to what cause mine to fail :)

Clutch Pedal Makes Clicking / Popping Sound (With Video)

Yes, similar to that but in my case it didn't last long before the gears would stop engaging. Within 5 minutes the car was undriveable.

    Clutch problems

Well, I guess I'll start by ordering a new master/slave cylinder and taking it from there. The old one is toast anyway, I tried putting it back and filling it with fluid but it feels spongy as heck and it doesn't work at all, even after bleeding it.

    Clutch problems

Not running. I'll try lifting the rear axle off the ground to see if that will let me take it out of reverse.

Cutting a peep-hole in the frame rails?

The frame isn't too far gone to require weld-in sections but I know that leaving it like this will leads to its demise.

Cutting a peep-hole in the frame rails?

I have a tendency to over-react so the frame is not rotten to the point of rust holes appearing on the outside but it is heading there. The photo posted above is a great example of what I would want to do. I need a hole like that for access and then the piece would be welded back on.

Cutting a peep-hole in the frame rails?

I know this has been discussed over and over again but we all know that the Jeep's chassis likes to rust from the inside, especially around the rear lower control arms. While trying to deal with an issue I have with the clutch hydraulics I thought I'd feel around inside the chassis and to my...

    Clutch problems

Okay, so now I got a different problem. With the master/slave cylinder out the transmission won't come out of reverse. Is there any chance that the fork and/or throw-out bearing could prevent it from disengaging even with a new master/slave cylinder?

How to bleed / replace your clutch fluid

Damn, brother, I have never seen a TJ engine bay that clean! Well done for looking after the thing. Also, write-up!

    Clutch problems

Hi Jerry, Thanks for taking the time to comment! I just took out the whole master/slave cylinder assembly and so far the only thing I noticed is that there was but a droplet of fluid in the reservoir but the pushrod on both ends extends when the other one is moved.

    Clutch problems

Thanks guys. The new part is on the way but now I am worried that the issue might also be with the throw-out bearing as the clutch pedal has always been hard to press and lately it started whining at idle. Could the throw-out bearing prevent me from putting it in gear?

    Clutch problems

So this morning when I got in my 97 TJ manual to drive to work I pressed the clutch and it felt a bit funny. The pedal has always been hard to press but this time it wasn't smooth and it felt like it was clicking half way through. I put it in first and I drive for a hundred feet before I stop to...
