Had the key not turn in the ignition a while ago. Unlocked the rake adjustment and moved the steering wheel up and down hitting the stops hard,that shook the pins loose! Now I use powdered graphite in all the locks once a year.

TJ is used 2 - 3 times a week, usually starts easily. Recently the battery was dead, as in ignition on and not even the mileometer showed on the dash. Fitted a brand new battery, then thought I'd look on the forum to see why a battery should crap out so with no warning. Found lots of threads...

Ben the chap who services my TJ (reluctantly, he prefers Land Rovers and Military Vehicles) and his dad own these beauties and drove many miles from Shropshire to Normandy for the D Day rememberance. Lump in throat moment.

Thank you for your replies. I've given the vacume lines in the engine bay a good coat of looking at and nothing is obviously wrong, so my next step is to check the non return valves and reservoir. Thinking about it, rather than pull the dash apart to look for a "ghost" problem, it might be...
