What would be the best gear ratio for a daily driver?

At 130k miles, our 2003 TJ (Oreo) is due for some differential work. I’m a novice on gear ratios - hoping for some good recommendation - Oreo has the 4.0l I6, 42RLE tranny, lockup torque converter LSD differential, running stock wheels and tires (P225/75R15’s @ 28.3” diameter). Stock gearing...

Texas Metra center bezel for -03-06 double din upgrade

Yes - I think I added to the continuing post thread. Still evaluating - noted in the thread what I’m powering it with (note I said “Boom, it woke up“, but after a 40ish mile round trip around Dallas today, I’m back to undecided. But then TJ’s are not renowned for their road acoustics.

Texas Metra center bezel for -03-06 double din upgrade

I’m using the original bezel for the 03 Jeep - the Metra I’m giving up was to fit a double DIN radio (I believe 7”diagonal). Not sure how long they made the rounded corner radio - I know my ‘03 Grand Cherokee had one as well, but my ‘12 didn’t that I recall. And Xtron may make more than 1 radio...

Texas Metra center bezel for -03-06 double din upgrade

Used but in ”like new” shape (except where I had to slightly shave the rectangle that the radio fit thru). I just removed from my ‘03 after running a 2 din radio for about 2 years (I reinstalled the old round corner bezel along with a new PSD50WRJL). Pictured is all I have for the bezel. No...

Double DIN Android Head Unit (InsaneAudio TJ1001) Chinese Knock-Off Review

Update today after having issues later yesterday (don’t sit in your driveway playing the system and tinkering without the engine running - you’ll kill the battery after about 3 hours and think something has gone haywire with all the spaghetti wiring). When I went out today and hooked the dash...

What JBL speakers for my TJ?

Where’s the link? 😀 In a posting or in the classified/for sale area?

Double DIN Android Head Unit (InsaneAudio TJ1001) Chinese Knock-Off Review

Update to the clock display as noted above - I had found the GPS and WiFi antennas that shipped with the radio and with the warm temps today, went out to install. I also wanted to play around with the XC1410 4 channel amp and PhoenixGold settings and as luck has it, got wrapped up in other...

Double DIN Android Head Unit (InsaneAudio TJ1001) Chinese Knock-Off Review

Finally got mine installed a week or so ago. Still trying to figure out how to set up the settings on the Clarion XC1410 amp that’s driving the front dash and rear sound bar speakers and the Phoenix Gold Sub amp for the 8” sub. After a year of the radio sitting unboxed in my office, I had...

    Ignition cylinder removal

FWIW - just had this happen to Oreo last Thursday - the Ms. got in to start Oreo to follow me, key would not turn. Ended up hitting the key with the palm of my hand while the key was inserted in the ignition. I felt a slight “pop” as my hand hit the key. Reached over, with my other hand, applied...

Time for another fuel pump again?

Well, again I have had my head somewhere that it stinks - I did put a Delphi pump in in 2019. Ordered a Bosch 67726 yesterday from CarID - $~$190 + tax/shipping = $~$202 (they beat Amazon by about $20.00 and have recently delivered in about the same amount of time).

Time for another fuel pump again?

Well, FWIW - measured fuel rail pressure today - 52psi running, pressure immediately falls to near zero within 3-5 seconds of killing the engine. Everyone recommends Bosch for the replacement - and that’s what’s in it. Tohughts?

Time for another fuel pump again?

Edited my original post (after remembering how to do it 🤯).

Time for another fuel pump again?

When I went to lunch, looked for stored codes - got a P0301. But other than a hard start, engine runs smooth after about 8-10 seconds.

Time for another fuel pump again?

‘03 L6 with 127k miles. Replaced fuel pump September 2019 with a Delphi FG1221. Fuel pump comes with new bottom mounted filter. Lifetime warranted fuel pump when installed with new filter (hmm, above?). This week, Jeep getting harder and harder to start, acting very much like it did when I...

For factory cruise install: Will my 06 have the correct clockspring?

Sorry for my late reply and update to this - Installed the new servo - still no cruise. Dash light lights but cruise won’t engage. Been too immersed in other things to do any deeper troubleshooting (I just found front axle seals leaking and worn out front track arm bushings). Will post when...

Cool Heat At Idle, Hot Heat At Higher RPM's

This statement gives some good insight into what might be wrong - "Really sucks, heat worked fine until we brought the TJ in to have a leaking heater core replaced.". When you replace a part of a system to fix one issue, and the results are that the system no longer operates as it did before...

Radiator boiling after replacing entire cooling system (including radiator)

Do you have the coolant overflow bottle on this Jeep? If not, therein may lay your problem. Coolant expands as gets hot. It has to have a place to go, and it goes out the overflow tube under the radiator cap hen it does. That overflow should be connected to a hose which goes to an overflow...

Radiator boiling after replacing entire cooling system (including radiator)

And not that it’s going to help the boil over problem that much, but if you used anything other than an OEM temperature sensor then what your seeing on the dash gauge is nothing but fallacies. I just went thru a similar situation of what the dash gauge was telling me versus what the engine was...

Radiator boiling after replacing entire cooling system (including radiator)

You are running with a radiator cap aren’t you? From a cold start, how quickly does the engine warm up to operating temperature, and then does the temperature just continue climbing? I’m not sure what a “TeeKay“ test is, but one sure way to find a blown head gasket, especially for a vehicle...
