    Rubber Vacuum Tube Elbow Source?

I have a vacuum leak that causes a whistle when I'm not depressing the gas pedal. My suspicion is that the culprit is this deteriorated rubber vacuum tube elbow. I have been to all of the auto parts stores and no one has them. Has anyone found a source for these? The elbow I'm after is on...

    March Trip to Moab

I have a 2" suspension lift and run 31" tires. But I also have 4.88 gears in the diffs and an LSD in the rear end. And, quick-disconnect sway bar links. My TJ is also my daily driver, and I pull that overlanding camper down the highway with it. So this set-up is the best compromise for me...

    March Trip to Moab

My son and I pulled our little overlanding camper to Moab for an extended weekend of wheeling, hiking, and camping. I am always thrilled to simply be there. A happy Jeeper. Me. Not a bad campsite. The Colorado River is just beyond the Tamarisk trees. Another view from our campsite. At...

    Overlanding Camper Build Thread

After using my overlanding camper for a year (10 trips), I realized how much I enjoy the cooking/eating aspect of these trips. So, I recently completely redesigned and rebuilt the back end. Here are a couple of photos:

    Backcountry Wildlife Encounter

I have my TJ and my overlanding camper so that I can spend time in the backcountry. And I spend time in the backcountry to experience moments like this. I did not shoot this with a telephoto lens. I was just using a 55mm lens. It's just that we were five feet apart when I took this photo...

    November Ride to Telluride

We moved here in 2005 and still pinch ourselves everyday to be sure we're not dreaming.

    November Ride to Telluride

Yeah, that was me. It looks like you live in Salida as well, is that true?

    November Ride to Telluride

We live in Salida. Ouray is just 3 hours away.

    November Ride to Telluride

Although Colorado as a whole is way behind on snowfall so far this season, the San Juans already had enough snow that we could not drive Ophir Pass or Imogene Pass from Ouray to Telluride. So, we drove Last Dollar road. This was a very nostalgic drive for my son and I; the last time we did it...

How have you customized your TJ for your dogs?

That's cool how everything is the same height. And I like the D-rings on the shelf so that you can strap things down.

How have you customized your TJ for your dogs?

Thing 1 and Thing 2 like to go with me, but don't both fit on the front passenger seat. Has anyone else created a Jeep adventure seat for their dogs?

Tool for zipping / unzipping soft-top windows

Yeah, I use cord with a loop at each end.

Tool for zipping / unzipping soft-top windows

Brilliant! If I'd known about those I would have just ordered them instead.

Tool for zipping / unzipping soft-top windows

Yup. But not so much dexterity as just having more leverage and an easier way to grab the pulls.

Tool for zipping / unzipping soft-top windows

I've tried various lubricants, but it's so arid and dusty here that the lubricants collect the dust and just make it worse. That's why the water works best for me.

Tool for zipping / unzipping soft-top windows

This is working so well that I thought I'd share. Many of you have probably come up with similar devices. I also learned from @Rescue6 that simply spraying the zippers with water - to wash off the dust - right before unzipping really helps. When I use this tool, I use the other hand to keep...

    Rear Tub Mount Squeaking Horribly

Well, silly me. It was a loose spare tire mount. But, thanks @Vtx531 for replying to this post. You inspired me to set aside a day and work on it until I figured it out.

    Rear Tub Mount Squeaking Horribly

I just went out and checked that. I don't have an impact wrench, but I put a breaker bar on it and couldn't get it to tighten any more at all.

    Rear Tub Mount Squeaking Horribly

Hmmmm. The squeak sure seems to be coming from the driver's side rear corner. Here's a couple of photos of that body mount. I also have a trailer hitch and this is how it's attached: I wonder if those layers of metal on metal could be squeaking.
