    Rubber Vacuum Tube Elbow Source?

I have a vacuum leak that causes a whistle when I'm not depressing the gas pedal. My suspicion is that the culprit is this deteriorated rubber vacuum tube elbow. I have been to all of the auto parts stores and no one has them. Has anyone found a source for these? The elbow I'm after is on...

    March Trip to Moab

My son and I pulled our little overlanding camper to Moab for an extended weekend of wheeling, hiking, and camping. I am always thrilled to simply be there. A happy Jeeper. Me. Not a bad campsite. The Colorado River is just beyond the Tamarisk trees. Another view from our campsite. At...

    Backcountry Wildlife Encounter

I have my TJ and my overlanding camper so that I can spend time in the backcountry. And I spend time in the backcountry to experience moments like this. I did not shoot this with a telephoto lens. I was just using a 55mm lens. It's just that we were five feet apart when I took this photo...

    November Ride to Telluride

Although Colorado as a whole is way behind on snowfall so far this season, the San Juans already had enough snow that we could not drive Ophir Pass or Imogene Pass from Ouray to Telluride. So, we drove Last Dollar road. This was a very nostalgic drive for my son and I; the last time we did it...

How have you customized your TJ for your dogs?

Thing 1 and Thing 2 like to go with me, but don't both fit on the front passenger seat. Has anyone else created a Jeep adventure seat for their dogs?

Tool for zipping / unzipping soft-top windows

This is working so well that I thought I'd share. Many of you have probably come up with similar devices. I also learned from @Rescue6 that simply spraying the zippers with water - to wash off the dust - right before unzipping really helps. When I use this tool, I use the other hand to keep...

    Rear Tub Mount Squeaking Horribly

I have had a horrific squeak in the back end for quite some time. I've never been able to figure it out. A few days ago I had my TJ in the shop for a couple of other things and asked the owner if he could take a listen and see if he could figure it out. Here's what he wrote on the ticket...

October overlanding trip over Kebler Pass and through Marble to the Crystal Mill

I thought this was going to be an Autumn trip. But, it turns out that if you camp at 10,400' in October, it's actually a Winter trip. We camped above Kebler Pass, west of Crested Butte. It started snowing again right after we arrived. It was very cold. This is my son doing a dance to...

How do I splice a metric air hose?

I severed one of the hoses on my Indeflate. How do I splice this back together? Keep in mind that this was made in Australia and is most likely metric. Thanks for the help.

If it hadn't been for the smoke...

... the views from this campsite would have been the best of any campsite I've stayed in. I pulled my overlanding camper over a difficult HC4WD road to get back in to this spot. But a word to the wise: Despite eight baths, five of which were de-skunking treatments, it is not a good idea to go...

Replacement parts on the Bestop website?

I have never been able to get Bestop to reply to my emails about replacing one of these clip/bracket doodads that has failed on my Supertop NX soft top. I have searched their website for replacement parts like this but can't find it. Has anyone else figured out how to order one of these...

Why is my TJ ruining radiators?

Several weeks ago, the radiator that was in my TJ when I purchased it from the PO began leaking while on a wheeling trip. We cut the trip short and came home. I had a new radiator installed by the local shop. They put in a radiator from O'Reilly's. Two or three weeks later this radiator...

Folding down the windshield—how do I remove the wipers?

I'm wanting to fold down my windshield just for fun on a wheeling trip. But it looks like I need to remove the windshield wipers (the entire arm). How do I do that?

    Adjustable, stick-on rear-view mirror?

Has anyone found a smallish, adjustable, stick-on rear-view mirror that I could mount in the spot indicated in my photo? I sit up pretty high in my TJ so I never use my regular rear-view mirror because it is right in my line of sight; I just use the mirrors on the doors. But, when my top is...

Wheeling / Hiking / Summitting Dream Trip

For a long time my son and I have been talking about a trip where we would pull my little overlanding camper over to Lake City, camp beside Lake San Cristobal, and then in a single day wheel to the top of Engineer Pass, do a 7 hour round-trip hike, summit Wildhorse Peak (elevation 13,266'), and...

    Supertop NX broken pin hack?

For the second time (and on the other side) the pin pictured below has broken and fallen out. The last time it took months for Bestop to send me the part. Has anyone come up with a replacement hack that works? Thanks!

Overlanding / Wheeling Trip in Cañon Country

My son and I went back into the canyons north of Cañon City, Colorado. We wheeled all of the Seep Springs area which was beautiful. We even found an arch. @Rescue6 @RMETeeJay We continue to be amazed at how easily the TJ pulls the overlanding camper we built, even over high-clearance 4WD...

    Winter Overlanding Camping Trip

My son and I got up early on a Thursday morning (2/25/21) and drove through 2" of fresh snow to an area north of Cañon City, Colorado, called Red Canyon Park. Our campsite. We were way back in and up and no one else was anywhere around. Just the way we like it. We are still super...

Shake-Down Expedition Of My Hand-Built Overlanding Camper

Hooray, it didn't fall to pieces! My son and I pulled the overlanding camper up to 9,000' elevation and spent three days and two nights. There are some things we'll tweak, but over-all we were very happy with the camper design and performance. Can't wait to go again.
