    Help me to prioritize upgrades

I think so. The TJ's brakes aren't the best, and the bigger tires dont help. Maybee not a flashy upgrade at all but stoping in time is underrated.

    Help me to prioritize upgrades

Brakes and lockers would make the bigest difference. I doubt wheels would make that much difference in the ride unless yours are damaged.

Advice on inspecting a totaled "parts Jeep"

Id say a little bit of poison might be in order on mice, the snakes came with it and probably helps some too. Good luck on that green jeep it looks solid even it is green. Im looking for the right tub to fix my jeep that I daily drive. Just waiting on money and opportunity to meet...lol

Advice on inspecting a totaled "parts Jeep"

Thanks, that picture explains a little more what a friend and fabricator told me. Ive been thinking about a regear, I guess I can pull theese and have them checked by the same shop to do the regear. Im thinking I can pull these have them checked, regeared and possibly some fabrication work...

Advice on inspecting a totaled "parts Jeep"

Working overtime so I've only got to check it out a few minuites. Im pretty sure the tub is out of square, frame is toast from impact mostly on the front shock tower. I think ill have to pressure wash underneath to get a better idea about the transmission/transfer case. Theres definitely...

Advice on inspecting a totaled "parts Jeep"

I struck out on the gas cap, it had a locking cap I won't have the key to. btw mine has been busted a while. I guess I'll quit putting off buying a new gas cap now.

    Johnny Joint thunk?

My controll arms turned the same way those are. I dont think its been a problem though. Could it be a problem with motor/transmission mounts or driveline? I've had a thud type sound on accel/decel turn out to be a loose motor mount before but it was noticeably front end.

Would I be fine to tow a 2900 pound boat for 3 miles in my TJ?

The drivetrain can handle more than the chasis. Big tires do not help.

Advice on inspecting a totaled "parts Jeep"

Thanks Jeepcjtj. Ill try that for the back. I've got a few days before delivery, calling in favor to get it hauled. The rear control arms look good, but the front arms are bent and the flange to the axle i think also. Im pretty suspect the front could be bad but optimistic enough to check...

Advice on inspecting a totaled "parts Jeep"

I recently bought a parts jeep that had a major front end collision. Im hoping it will have some usable/rebuildable parts I can use on my simalar model Jeep. Is there any way to inspect the axle housings and transfer case to know if theyre worth rebuilding or scrap. The controll arms in...

Looking for ideas and suggestions on 2006 TJ Rubicon upgrades

Does anyone have a guestamate on how many hours work outboarding shocks, weilding shock brackets, and trackbar bracket? Can the spring perch on the axle be moved to adjust the ride height? Im loaded heavy and low in the back. This would be for a tummy tuck. Its an 06 tjr with a 4" rock...

    2006 TJ won’t start.

Id just remove the small wire first, or wiggle it to see if it makes a difference. If its loose you could gently squeeze it together just a little to make a tighter connection. Clean it however you can and maybee electric grease puting it back on. I cleaned my connections like you would...

    2006 TJ won’t start.

Could it be the wires at the starter? Theres a small wire with a terminal end that hooks up at the starter. On my jeep that little wire gets grit & gunk in it, and makes a bad connection. It causes very similar problems.

The Official Tummy Tuck FAQ Thread

How much of a difference does a TT make for reliability and drivability. Id really like to add to the ground clearance, but Im concerned about increased wear on the centering ball and universal joints in the driveshaft. How often are you rebuilding drivelines with a lift and tummytuck? Ive...

    Grease recommendation

Is there one grease that is good for everything on the jeep? I bought a Valvoline molly grease for suspension and also used it on the driveline and suspension. I was disapointed as I believe it washed out quick from mud and watercrossing. I was thinking of something like a tacky marine...
