Finally got the lift installed. It was delayed due to the wonderful Pennsyltucky weather up here in the mountains. I went with a 9k Triton Pro series Asymmetrical. $2195 installed! I got it from LiftsPlusDepot.com. They service the East Coast and are based in VA. Great people to work...

Jeep9748...That's my plan! I already cut out the area...coated with POR15, including the inside and will plug weld a small patch panel...fill the area with body filler, sand smooth, give a good coat of paint and cover with the diamond plate. Ta da. Actually this is minor compared to the work...

One of the things I do with my older engines (67 Mustang, 48 Farmall tractor) and my wifes 98 TJ is that I substitute a quart of oil with Rislone ZDDP supplement, marketed as Rislone 3x Concentrated Engine Oil Supplement (not the standard Rislone). It has zink and phosphorus in it that quiets...

It also may be the power steering pump, especially since it happens when cold. You can do the old school mechanic trick and put a screw driver on the metal and put your ear to the handle of the screw driver to help locate the noise. Or get an engine stethoscope...really handy for localizing...
