Fuel pump for a Hemi in a 2004 LJ

I believe on my 1999 Sahara the regulator, which is sitting on top of the fuel pump module returns the excess fuel directly back to the tank. This eliminates the need for a dedicated return line running back to the tank from the engine.

    VW TDI Diesel Sahara

Just to let you know, the 2in thickness is just enough for firewall clearance on the ALH. I think I only had 1/2" to 3/4" between the firewall and vacuum pump. This would be minimum clearance for the vacumm pump removal.

    VW TDI Diesel Sahara

I sold this jeep a while ago, so I am not on here a lot anymore. If your transmission stays in the same spot as the stock one did, then you can use the original driveshafts. It depends on your firewall clearance, does the BHW motor have a large vacuum pump on the rear of the head.

Yes that's the only application I know of that has that axle, I am just not a FORD fan I suppose.

    Overlanding Camper Build Thread

Has anybody done "barn" style doors on these? I imagine that large rear door is fairly heavy?

    VW TDI Diesel Sahara

Yes the gas to diesel conversion kit will likely be the best bet, paired with the Fast Forward wiring harness. I would say prepare for it to cost more than you think. I am not sure if building from the frame up is the best route, remember you are daily driving this in Canadian winters. What I...

    VW TDI Diesel Sahara

Actually sold the jeep about 2 weeks ago and yes it was working well. I ran it in winter and summer, some winter days were -35deg C and it worked fine. I did have a circulating block heater which was very helpful. This thread is basically the only build thread that I did. Do you have any...

If AEV makes it, it must be good right?

Yes, that's it. I would say that with out that cyclonic head on the top of the snorkel, the idea of it reducing dust intake is kind of trivial. But then again it does not look as cool as the ram air head seen typically.

If AEV makes it, it must be good right?

Most agricultural equipment use a cyclonic design to pre-filter the air before entering the paper filter air box. Not sure if the snorkels have that feature or not, I am guess not based on the shape of them.

    Welding floor pan gaps

When welding a complex shape such as a floor pan why wouldn't you overlap seams? If you seam seal the edges no moisture can exist and therefore no rust can form. Cosmetically I doubt anybody would pickup on a detail like that especially if you took your time and did a good job.

    People, again

I agree but you cant let those people change how you do business, which the reason you are still in buisness in the first place. At the end of the day you did what the best you could with what you had.

    People, again

I believe this is why repair shop rates are so high these days. Its not the cars or equipment that is hard to deal with, it's the people.

    Welding floor pan gaps

I would be careful with the excessive grinding of the welds. Not only is it a waste of time/consumables, but you are making the floor pans even thinner and harder to weld on your second pass. Maybe change to a less aggressive flap disc instead of a grinding wheel if you insist on making it look...

What problems did you have with 5.9 V8? I have one in a half ton truck that has been great.

California Anyone near San Diego that can do a manual to automatic transmission swap on a 97 TJ?

This is an important small step. You have to remove the pilot bearing and it's machined insert from the end of the engine crankshaft. If you don't, the torque converter will not be able to seat properly in the end of the crank and it will be difficult to know whats going on.
