    H&R 1” lift

I have the H&R springs and 5100's, along with stock rims and Grabber 30" - I love them, but I am also mainly on road/highway. They are stiffer than stock so provide better road response IMHO. Off road they're great if you have 4 people for the added weight :-)

How to recalibrate your speedometer after changing tire sizes or gears

Thx Chris! I use a Garmin GPS to determine speed - right now 80 indicated on the speedo is 73mph actual. As you'd expect, in the 20's and 30's it's only a couple/few MPH off. The error grows as you go faster. The only thing I can think of is that someone put an electronic adjuster on it...

How to recalibrate your speedometer after changing tire sizes or gears

yeah, 3.07 tag, and revs match what a 3.07 would do at speed with tire size. very weird, like someone put a speedo healer in-line instead of a gear change?

How to recalibrate your speedometer after changing tire sizes or gears

OK... I'm really confused :-) My speedo was reading high, so I bought a new speedo gear - my gear ratio is 3.07, I'm running on General Grabber AT2's in LT30x9.5, so I bought and put in a 28 tooth gear. Now my speedo is high by even more! I'm reading 8mph over actual mph... very confused...

What do we do for hobbies?

lots of similarities in this crew! :) Summer time lots of dirt biking with my son, and adventure/road rides with friends. Love being outdoors! Like @VirtualRussel and @Chris, in the winter time I am a slave to the sport my 13yr old son clicked into - Freeride skiing. He's now competing all...

Who sails, or used to sail?

@StG58 .... cruising is really just fixing your boat in exotic places :) It was a crazy experience - I've sailed, raced, and instructed sailing my whole life (raced a Capri 22 at one point!). My wife... started when she met me. One day we saw a Panda 40 on the dock, and fell in love (with the...

Let's see your reverse lights (jackass blinders)

I followed Chris' recommendation and installed those amazon LED taillights last week (Thanks Chris, again!). Easy install, and very impressed with the light output both for brake lights and reverse. I've had direct wired reverse lights on previous cars and there is definitely value there...

    Power tools?

Gotta add my $.02 ... in favor of the Milwaukee M18 fuel. I have (2) 3/8" drill/drivers and they have been dead dependable, including building a shed roof carport in the pouring rain for 4 days straight. And then when I bought the TJ, I took a chance and bought the 1/2" impact wrench. That thing...

yeah, it has more of a "city jeep" look to it with the bigger wheels/smaller tires. Funny story - I was talking with the guy who built our cabin when I bought the TJ. Said I bought a jeep... his face lit up and he asked "cool! is it a willy's? An old CJ?" I replied - "no, it's a 2001 TJ" He...

@glwood - I hear you on the Duratrac's!! I aspire to those some day, but I have to say I've been very impressed with the GG AT2's. I know everyone's scratching their head on the choice of 30's, but it works for now - I actually can go over Snoqualmie Pass in 4th gear on I90! I purchased the...

Thanks all! Full disclosure on the snow: we have a cabin up against national forest land east of the Cascades in WA, and at that elevation we get a lot of snow! one of the major reasons for getting the jeep :-) miles and miles of forest roads and trails! the General Grabbers turned out to be...

Hey all! I've been reading this site for months, and I have to start off with a big "Thank You" for all of the incredible info about our TJs on this site. Love the knowledge and contributions everyone is so willing to share. This is my first Jeep, but like my 30th vehicle since I learned how...
