Just for fun: Which Hogwarts house?

Re-reading the Potter books - just for fun, which Hogwarts house would you be in? There's an official test, and several un-official ones - or - which one would you WANT to be in?

    Midland Ghost antenna

Midland "Ghost" antenna showing a dead short on an ohmmeter, and its NOT the coax before anyone asks. I don't know if there's active components inside this thing and this is normal for this antenna or not... Could someone who has one unscrew it from its NMO connector and check?

    The Garden Project...

We are finally able to start serious work on our backyard, with the help of one of my dance sisters, Jessica. She's building a vegetable garden with raised beds and hydroponics for my wife, and a semi-formal "Ma'at garden" (think "Zen Garden" but without the Orientalia) for myself. Wife's...

    Brake hoses (rubber)

I'm gradually building up a parts collection for when I install my lunchbox on the front - I'm going to put a set of @mrblaine 's calipers on, replace the U-joints, knuckles, ball joints, etc. Figure I might as well do the rubber brake hoses all around as well. What is the brand/source preference?

    Trailer wiring

Will be wiring this thing up fairly soon, after I finish up the painting and add some plywood. I bought a pre-made wiring harness that seems pretty nice - but I'll still need to make a few splices. Its been about 40 years since I last wired a trailer, and I don't remember how I did that one...

    GMRS antenna

The little magnet mount unity gain GMRS antenna that came with my Midland has turned into a mass of rust. It worked well enough for what it was, but it now needs replacing. I know the 6 dB whip is better than the 3 dB "ghost", but I'm leaning towards the latter anyway as I figure it would be...

    Milwaukee keyless chuck

I inherited a not very old Milwaukee 3/8" variable speed drill (Corded) from my late father. Nice drill - but shortly after, the variable speed went away and it was just an on-off tool. I sent it in to Milwaukee for repair - they ended up sending me a brand new, very similar drill. Unlike the...

    Anyone have solar?

Esp. in Florida? Had a guy from an apparently reputable solar installation company come by to give me his spiel. He asked me up front if his numbers were lower than the utility company, if that would make me happy. I don't like salesmanship BS to start with - so I told him "it might" but that...

    Carbide Saw Blades

Is it worth getting a carbide circular saw blade resharpened, or just buy a new one?

    Got hit AGAIN!

No damage, thank Goddess - but this makes FOUR times I've been hit in the last 14 months. Yet another Florididiot not paying attention tapped the front of the old MBZ in a parking lot. I read the guy the riot act. He probably didn't deserve it, but I'm so fucking over being hit because nobody...

    House wiring question

Is this code? Was it ever? Is it now? I've seen these used for CATV and telephone, but never for service voltages. Maybe its OK, or was at one time, because its a concrete block wall? I'm thinking not, but...

    The Tattoo Thread!

I know lots of folks here have tattoos besides me. Everyone here knows about my notorious "tramp stamp", but let's see what else TJ owners have come up with! This is my "other" tattoo - nape of neck. Not necessarily the best in existence, but I got it to memorialize my dad: Let's see yours!

    Cardan rebuild parts

Ok, so I already have the (3) Spicer 5-760X U-joints - so I don't need the full "rebuild kit". I need the correct numbers for the ball joint, grease slinger (??) and anything else I need to rebuild the front driveshaft. Looking at past threads has just confused me. This is for an '06...

    Tight u-joint?

Now re-assembling my driveshaft. Got the first U-joint installed with very little problem - ended up using the thinest (Copper colored) snap rings as the Spicer documentation said I probably would as the other two sizes wouldn't fit when attempting to install on both sides. Anyway, the U-joint...

Quick and dumb trailer lug nut question:

I don't see any reason whatsoever why I couldn't use the same lug nuts on this trailer as I do the Jeep. Same thread, 60 degree cone. Looks better, but more importantly can use the same size lug wrench rather than the silly 13/16" size the trailer nuts need. Anyone know of any potential problems...

    My turn: axle u-joint?

I parked my Jeep 2 days ago - no issues. Drove it out today, and am getting an odd vibration. Starts subtly around 16 MPH, peaks between 20 and 24-ish, then tapers off and is gone by the time I reach 30. It feels pretty much like driving over a mild washboard, seems to be coming from the front...
