Gauge Cluster Has to "Warm Up"

Hey everybody. I have a pretty strange phenomenon that I have had going on in my cluster for a while. When the ambient temperature gets below 60F or so, my cluster takes close to 90 seconds to "warm up" before the gauges (tach/speedo/fuel/battery/oil) start working. Prior to this, I was having...

    Floor Pan Replacement

Looking back at my own restoration I would wait until you put it back on the frame. It took a lot of work to get my TJ back on the body mounts after I replaced the floor pans. But I also replaced the body mount floor panels before I did the floor pans, so maybe that was more of the issue!

    Spring lift calculations

Math checks out to me, assuming your spring rates and weights are all correct. Might get some variation in application, but I would say you would definitely get close to the 2.5" front, 3" back.

This will make the body guys cringe

The double sided tape is delaminating from the rubber part of the seal. I think it might actually be a defective part. I got it from MOPAR and it’s never supposed to peel up from the rubber side.

This will make the body guys cringe

Well guys I really screwed up. My boss worked at the plant during TJ production in the water and weather test area. The one thing he told me over and over: “Really put pressure on that header seal when you install it”. Did I listen? Clearly not well enough. Son of a gun.

Customer service done right! I’m set through the next two winters at least! Thanks.

Project: Probably Shouldn't Be Alive AKA Sue

After testing the brakes, which worked great, I took it to the gas station down the street using slow back roads. First fill up for at least six years I bet! Noticed a few things on the drive, the steering gear is leaking at the input shaft seal, and the axle-side track bar nut was missing! So I...

Project: Probably Shouldn't Be Alive AKA Sue

Since the engine was running, the only thing keeping me from a (short) drive was the brakes. So with brand new cast iron rotors, wheel bearings, Black Magic Brakes zinc coated calipers, and allllllllllllllll of the drum hardware, I got to work. It took quite a while. I ran YJ front brake lines...

Finally Got My Black Magic Brakes Chapstick

The chapstick cap had been cracked so it was dried out. Not exactly a big deal, but unfortunate.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Painted my half-door trim panel using some SEM camel paint. Amazing how much life it brought back to it. Hard to believe this was close to the factory color.

Project: Probably Shouldn't Be Alive AKA Sue

And here she is running! First video is the first time she popped to life. Also that wasn't actually smoke, it was steam coming from the water pump outlet on the block.

Project: Probably Shouldn't Be Alive AKA Sue

Although it might be a big jump, once I had the body back on the frame, everything moved very fast. These are some pictures just to get an idea for a before and after for the big paint job coming up. But at this point she still wasn't running.

    TJ Frame Repair

I installed Pocono for the rear LCA mounts and the center sections and they worked well. I have heard very good things about SafeTCaps though.

CREEEEEEEEEEEAK... CRACK - spin loose. Repeat. Terrifying but surprisingly doable without stripping. Heat helps.

I honestly love the green. Green and tan has always been my perfect Jeep color. If only this thing had been a Sahara!

Absolutely. Gonna see if I can get the engine started first though!
