2002 X: Return to stock and repair years of mud / dunes / salt

Yeah I almost never see stock TJs in my area anymore, or YJs. When I take mine out in the non-salt months I always get people in JKs/JLs telling me they "use to have one just like that" but they all rotted out long ago. :( I like the white on yours!

2.5 continues to be a pain in the but now it's the O2

Agreed. I had a bad Denso on my Jeep and an NTK on another vehicle that ended up working but had a connector that wasn't seating all the way causing issues.

Milwaukee M12 Stubby (new specs) vs M18 Compact 3/8"

Yeah I've tried several brands, and haven't found one that is superior. I work on mostly small engines and ATVs, so the 1/4" extended reach is probably the one I use the most, just because the body is further from the ratchet head so I can squeeze it into tight spots. I use them mostly to zip...

Milwaukee M12 Stubby (new specs) vs M18 Compact 3/8"

I have both. The extended one I use for pretty much everything, since the body fits into tighter spaces. I use the other one where more torque might be needed. If I was to only buy one it would be the extended reach one.

Milwaukee M12 Stubby (new specs) vs M18 Compact 3/8"

I like the electric ratchets a lot and use them frequently. The long reach is probably my favorite, and they will save your hands.

Should you get a heavy duty fan clutch?

I had the same issue but on an XJ. When I was young and dumb I saw on other forums people recommended the heavy duty clutch so I tried it. The fan wouldn't unlock no matter what RPM, it sounded like a jet, and any higher than 3000 RPM the belt slipped and squealed it sounded like a...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Should've seen the weird looks I got at the gas station when I got out of my BMW while wearing a Jeep shirt.

2002 X: Return to stock and repair years of mud / dunes / salt

Nice! I've had a few modded Jeeps over the years but now that they are older I appreciate nice clean well-kept stock ones as well. I remember TJs were new right when I was thinking about driving, and lusted after them on the dealer lots.

    New Tool Day

The capability of the new trucks is amazing, but the reliability seems to be a crap shoot. I have friends and family that love their trucks, and others that have had several with 5 digit repair bills and have sworn them off. Seems to be luck of the draw. I do think the newer trucks NEED to be...

    New Tool Day

Yup, 100%. Pretty much all of the municipalities around me and small businesses like landscape crews have switched over to gas V8 trucks. The diesel ones just aren't worth the premium anymore unless you tow heavy loads constantly and need that extra torque every time you use the truck. The...

Milwaukee M12 Stubby (new specs) vs M18 Compact 3/8"

I'd go with the M18. I have mostly Dewalt 20v stuff, but also have quite a few Milwaukee M12 tools (grease gun, ratchets, drill, various small cutting tools). The M12 battery life sucks compared to the other stuff. One of my friends has a bunch of M18 tools, and those batteries seem much...

What did you do to your TJ today?

My sister had a 2.5L i-5 VW Jetta for a while. It sounded good, but the 2.5L had the power of a 4-cylinder with the fuel consumption of a 6-cyl. :(

Power hungry 4.0: how to give it what it wants?

There are only 4 ways to get more power out of a 4.0L: 1. Regear 2. More aggressive camshaft/internal engine work like port/polish the cylinder head 3. Build it into a stroker engine 4. Forced induction (turbo/supercharger) Those are the only options that will make any measurable difference...

    Muffler Question

I've had a bunch of mufflers on my 4.0L vehicles over the years thanks to living in New England and them rusting out frequently. Flowmaster 40 series are just loud, same with glasspacks. They sound cool for about 3 days then you get tired of it. Here are the ones I recommend from quietest to...

Sorry for another what's leaking thread

I would bet it is the water pump. When mine started leaking it did something similar, dripped down the front of the engine and onto the differential. Edit: by the grime on the timing cover it looks like your front crank seal is leaking pretty good. Could be that seal has finally completely...
