I think this is a great XJ. The price is good. It looks solid and it is super clean. Most of them look like a racoon lived in them before they were sold and people still ask for that kind of money. I say buy it and if he doesn't like it, then sell it for the same price he bought it for (if not more)

The springs will settle after a few drives on the road. Mine looked obscured when I put my OME lift in. It settled soon after and looks fine now.

The 30 can handle it. Its the 35 that can't, but that's only if you lock the rear diff. It will be fine for riding around town and some light trails.

My four screws holding the shifter boot had a hex on top with a slot. I just used the hex.

If its the first time it has been removed, try prying it with a screw driver. Its rigid enough to take the abuse. If you are replacing the shifter with another OEM unit, don't forget to install a new oil gasket if needed. Mine had completely disintegrated and the shifter rides on the oil seal.

It may not make a difference in your case. But if the sensors cause a code to be spit out by the computer, then you need to disconnect the battery over night to clear the codes and let the computer start a monitor on the new sensor. I saw that on a thread a long time ago and I have done it...

Did you disconnect the battery over night before installing the new sensors?

Have you replaced any O2 sensors? or spark plugs? I had a similar issue when those items went out. If you do have new spark plugs, then you could check your wires and distributor.

Are you going to be porting the intake and exhaust?
