    Door hinge replacements?

Looking at getting some Kentrol powder coated stainless door hinges. Anyone have thoughts on these, besides the price? The real question is, are these actually early/late TJ specific? I see hinges listed as half door, full door, and half and full. Then I see 97-02 hinge sets and 03-06 sets. I...

What is this on the positive terminal of my battery?

I have the response. "Warn recommends wiring direct to the battery due to the high amp draw required to run them. Most of the winches will pull over 400 amps when under load and we have not found any fuse or circuit breaker that will reliably handle that."

What is this on the positive terminal of my battery?

Correct, not disputing that or saying anything different. It was more of a guess as to why they (mainstream manufacturers) say wire directly to the battery, for when it IS in use, reducing points of failure. Like I said earlier, I never had any parasitic draw on my old Jeep with my warn wired...

What is this on the positive terminal of my battery?

If I had to guess, it's purely a matter of drawn power from the winch and removing any additional points of failure. But, I don't know shit so... I took the liberty of asking Warn. I'll reply should I get some reasonable useful response.

What is this on the positive terminal of my battery?

I never had any safety stuff on my CJ as it pertained to my winch power, and once my dual terminal yellow top came loose from the battery hold down clamp and fried on the winch leads. I realize nothing would have saved me in that scenario (beyond a better method of securing the battery), this...

Opinion on rust on prospective purchase

I'll echo the other replies. Looks more than reasonable for a 20+ year old frame based on the photos. If you grab it, get to work with a wire brush, then coat it with one of the various rust prevention options on the market and call it a day if you feel inclined to. I wouldn't bat an eye at it...

    Vibration when letting off throttle

Skipped Flagstaff. Went to Holbrook and headed to Phoenix from there. Phoenix has some of the nicest roads I've ever seen. Guess they tend to last when the only weather that exists is hot.

    Vibration when letting off throttle

Thinking you're right. May be in my best interest to buy a couple. I got many miles ahead of me. Can really afford to change them now, but if they outright fail, I'll have plenty of time. Lmao. Already in Gallup. But yeah, the roads here are pretty gnarly. These rough country shocks are not...

    Vibration when letting off throttle

On my way from Denver to Phoenix. Made it to Albuquerque. I noticed at 65+ I have a vibration when I let off the throttle. Just had an alignment done, and figured that would resolve it but it did not. It's not in the steering wheel at all. Any ideas?

    Blower motor resistor smoking

And I found many a thread with that. I swear, I have the hardest time finding anything in here with the forums search functions.

    Blower motor resistor smoking

Thanks Jerry. Not what I want to hear exactly. Guess my next move is asking for opinions on after market motors. OEM price is just a little too high for my taste.

    Blower motor resistor smoking

Not to hijack a thread, but I had a blown resistor. Plugged a new one in from mopar. Behold! All 4 speeds. Thing got very hot in the short amount of time I checked stuff. Talking less than a minute. I know they heat up, but that seemed hot hot. I am assuming this means the blower is drawing too...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Finally decided to upgrade my air intake. Step one, removed rugged ridge POS CAI. Step 2, went Gallagher on it. Step 3, installed an OEM box I got on Ebay. At some point, I'll clean my engine bay. Definitely cleaned up the "new" intake after that photo. Armor All to make it shine and add that...

    TJ rear storage solution

I somehow missed that. Awesome work. I found something similar on another forum, but they bolted it through their hardtop/body. So thank you! Might just have to give that a whirl.

    TJ rear storage solution

Anyone seen any solutions for racks that clamp to the rollbar? Aside from the egregiously priced bestop solution. I too run the tuffy console, but I also have a tonneau over that that makes the Kilby and genright solutions unworkable even if I ditch the tuffy box. Might try to diy something to...

    Removing stripped torx hinge bolts

I think you're gonna have some nasty rattling without them. That was my one take away today before I chose the path of carnage. Some glue and a few pieces of old seal or even just the pinned in spots might solve both problems for you. I recall my old man's chucked B&D drill being the same way...

    Removing stripped torx hinge bolts

I have an old chuckless Black and Decker drill. The only easy out about it was the head coming off the drill. I can either go get the Dewalt combo I've been wanting when my drill gives up the ghost, or just let the body shop deal with it. If I hadn't botched everything today, I'd probably try...

    Removing stripped torx hinge bolts

Should be pretty light work on the inside. Not much you can see with the panels on there. You check your fit with them? That's how I ended up in the debacle today. ItS JuSt A mInOr AdJuStMeNt... there was no minor adjustment in the end. Just a pile of metal shavings, receipts for drill bits, and...

    Removing stripped torx hinge bolts

Lmao. I needed you this morning! But, better late than never. Definitely adding it to the tool box. Definitely is. It's called "let the body shop I'm gonna have them painted at deal with it." I'm sure they can get the rest of the POS out. 2 out of 3 is good enough. I'll cut the head off another...

I can definitely say drilling did not go well.
