A/C line popped when I used a shorter belt

Ok so simply bypassing it with the belt is all that needs to be done? And thanks, I’ll try and get it patched up.

A/C line popped when I used a shorter belt

My A/C hasn’t worked during my ownership of my tj, so I decided to use a shorter serpentine belt and bypass it. I went for a quick test drive and when I parked, I heard a pop. This line coming from the compressor is now leaking air. Anyone know why this happened? And is there anything else I...

    Electrical / Gauge Cluster Issues

I ended up replacing my gauge cluster. I took it apart and noticed some burn marks on the circuit board. My only issue now is that I purchased a gauge cluster with 70k more miles than the old one read and have no idea how to roll it back, but it works perfectly.

Proof that running a thermostat matters

Oh no I’m an idiot lol. My bad.

Proof that running a thermostat matters

I would think the coolant passes too quickly through the radiator thus not cooling properly. Also the coolant may not flow well without the pressure gradient the thermostat creates from the block to the radiator.

    AX15 noises

I agree it does. Unfortunately it was done by the previous owner 3 years ago so I doubt there’s any warranty. There’s also the issue of having changed my cluster so now the odometer says it has 60k more miles than it actually does. If the warranty is still covered time wise it probably isn’t...

    AX15 noises

I'm in Florida so it's always kinda hot so no I haven't noticed. What I have noticed is that sometimes after driving a bit it quiets down but then after idling a bit it knocks. There's a noise that's not supposed to be there and I won't know for sure unless I open it up. I guess I'm just trying...

    AX15 noises

But the throwout bearing only has a load on it when the clutch is pressed in. You do hear it "whirring" when i press the clutch in but are you saying that the knocking is it rattling around as if it were loose?

    AX15 noises

I have changed the trans and tc fluid. The trans has 139k miles on it but according to the car fax, the previous owner had it rebuilt 5k miles ago. Idk what was done but man it's noisy. How could it be the transfer case? I had the transfer case in neutral when I took the video so not much was...

My 98 Jeep TJ Questions and Repair

Ask don't assume. I've spoken with mechanics that say you don't need to change transmission fluid.

My 98 Jeep TJ Questions and Repair

I guess it was silly to ask how many miles on the tranny. How many miles on the jeep? Do you have any reason to believe the trans has been replaced? If not it has the same miles the jeep does. They usually call for a rebuild around 170k miles but mine has 139k and I'm dealing with issues myself...

My 98 Jeep TJ Questions and Repair

Ignore the shift light. Pretty sure it's vacuum operated so it's more of a guess that you need to shift. The reverse gear is not synchronized meaning there is no synchronizer ring in place to match the speed of the reverse gear to the transmission speed. when shifting into reverse either hold...

    AX15 noises

To start off, other than the noises, the tranny shifts well. No grinding or difficulty selecting gears. In neutral there's a knocking noise that goes away when I press the clutch in. I'm not sure what's making that noise but I'm thinking it's either an input shaft bearing or the throw out...

    Electrical / Gauge Cluster Issues

Ok I think I confirmed my gauge cluster is bad. I began disconnecting each module connected to the CCD bus circuit and testing the voltage at the datalink connector. After disconnecting the ACM and cleaning the pins and plugging back in, I'm getting the proper voltage at the data link connector...

    Electrical / Gauge Cluster Issues

Am I supposed to be getting 2.5V at the CCD bus wires? I'm still getting an alternating range from 0.4-0.6 at both of them. I've checked for voltage from the gauge cluster all the way to the fuse box under the dash. The next thing would be the PCM. How would I check the grounds and voltage of...

    How long till she blows?

Well that's not good haha. Could the radiator have cracked cause of that? Coolant shouldn't be thick or black at all. I would get some chemical flush for your cooling system to clean out all the sludge in the hoses and block. Change that coolant asap you could clog something and damage your...

Questions about new to me 99 TJ

    1. It depends on how old and how good or cheap the suspension is. Lifted jeeps do tend to be springy but it shouldn't be bouncing all over the place when driving. 2. The breaking issue could be unevenly worn brakes and tires and/or loose steering components. You may want to check out the wear on...

    How long till she blows?

Yup. It's a very hot pressurized system. You could get a small, slow leak or have a large crack that dumps coolant.

2004 Wrangler TJ fuse box issues

A lot of the fuses don't receive power if the jeep is turned off. The jeep doesn't need to be running, you just need to turn the key. Now, I suggest you look at your service manual here and see what each fuse is. Also look at the wiring diagrams to see what wires don't belong to trace your door...
