I thought they might have used a different paint on the later models, but maybe your right the surviving older ones were just taken care of a bit better and always garaged.

I find it really odd that some really early TJ,s paintwork held up better than some later models? Is it the same in USA/CND/NZ/UK? I see so many 99,s looking newer to the eye than 2004 - 2006,s?

Its called Gas guzzling reliability if it didnt have a computer that made it unreliable! Or a shit gearbox's! Lets face it, its all about the nostalgia and 4x4 capability and 4x4 has never been as reliable as 2wd anything, even Toyota land cruisers!
